At the June Committee of the Whole meeting we spent almost as much time waiting for the meeting to begin as we spent in the meeting. There was some important stuff on the agenda, but it seems that it was pretty straightforward; employee engagement, the review of Community Benefit Agreements, and more on Corporate Asset Management were all topics needing discussion and decision, so how did it all turn out? RECAP: New Heritage Advisory Committee Gets Oriented
For the first time, the Heritage Advisory Committee met. Yes, there are some old faces from the old Heritage Guelph days (which was one month ago), but there were also some new ones. In this initial meeting not a lot of actual heritage protection got done, but there was a lot of expectation setting and discussion about what the powers of this slightly rejiggered heritage committee can do. Plus, there was some vice-chair election drama! Check out the recap. Continue reading “RECAP: New Heritage Advisory Committee Gets Oriented”

Data is key to guiding health policy, and health units collect a lot of it, but formatting it, organizing it, and looking for patterns in it can be time consuming, meaning that you’re doing a lot of labour that has nothing to do with creating the actual health policy or solving a public health issue. If you’re thinking to yourself that this sounds like an ideal solution for artificial intelligence, you’re right! Continue reading “GUELPH POLITICAST #473 – Can A.I. Make Public Health Better? (feat.
