Have you ever wondered how the public health office would handle some outbreak of a food-borne illness at a well-attended social event? Well this was your lucky day if you were an attendee of the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health meeting. A tick-tock about the stomach bug at a International Women’s Day event in Orangeville was one of the subjects covered, and so was something called Adverse Childhood Events, or ACEs. GUELPH POLITICAST #371 – They Are Legion (A May the 4th Special)

This Week at Council: Strategic Plan Updated Further, and So Was Transit!
April ended with a very busy trifecta of meetings including a very heavy focus on transit matters. Before that though, council had another workshop to discuss the update to the Strategic Plan for the last time before a finished draft comes back in a few months. As for transit, council made some updates and heard all about those future plans, and other matters of transportation, at a separate workshop. MEETING PREVIEW: Board of Health Meeting for May 3, 2023
This month’s Board of Health meeting focuses on matters of everyday health. For instance, there was an incident in the Dufferin part of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health where people got sick from food at a public event. There will be a report about that, plus a report about Public Health’s communications strategy last year and something called “Adverse Childhood Experiences”. RECAP: GRCA Membership Holds Straightforward April Meeting
This month’s meeting of the Grand River Conservation Authority was not terribly controversial. The new insurance premium was approved, new jobs were awarded, and there was a discussion about the flooding event that only happened in some areas back at the beginning of April. But if any of this sounds like it might be of interest to you, you’re still invited to scroll through this month’s recap below… Continue reading “RECAP: GRCA Membership Holds Straightforward April Meeting”
MEETING PREVIEW: Committee of Adjustment Meeting for May 11, 2023
This month’s Committee of Adjustment meeting will hopefully not be the marathon that April’s was; there are significantly fewer than a dozen different applications to dispatch. The committee will hear a couple of applications that will look at some building expansions, and then they will hear from staff about the approved changes to the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw and the Provincially approved changes to the Official Plan.
