It was a short meeting for the Guelph Police Services Board to end 2023. There wasn’t much for the board to do, and they were two members short, but they did take this time in December to get themselves organized for next year; confirming the chair and the vice-chair, organizing the composition of committees, and talking about how the board will meet going forward. With today’s meeting, the Guelph Police Services Board officially sent the 2024-2027 police budget to city council for further examination starting in a few weeks. The only big change is additional funds for the IMPACT program that will cover the cost of a social worker in downtown Guelph along with an additional downtown police officer.
