RECAP: Transit Advisory Committee Takes a Look at Itself This Month

This month’s Transit Advisory Committee meeting wasn’t focused so much on the functioning of transit as it was focused on the function of the committee itself. The special guest this month was Dylan McMahon from the clerks’ office who led the committee through a familiar exercise to determine where they fall in the new framework for Advisory Committees of Council. So let’s dive into the recap for this one… Continue reading “RECAP: Transit Advisory Committee Takes a Look at Itself This Month”

MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for February 15, 2024

No time for love the day after Valentine’s Day because the Transit Advisory Committee has to get down to business. The agenda is deceptively light, because one of the items will require TAC to take a good, long look at itself. The clerks’ office is coming to this meeting to look at how TAC might fit into the grand scheme of things so far as the future of advisory committees go, and there’s also matters of rider feedback and general updates to discuss. RECAP: Public Health Tackles Inspections, Meningitis and Oral Health

The first Board of Health meeting of the year featured a lot of information (as usual). Perhaps you’ve notice that Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has revamped the Check Before You Choose website, and you’ve probably noticed because more of you are consulting that site. There was also a post-Plowing Match report, a report about the importance of your meningitis shot, and a plea for more help to support dental health locally. RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks at Changes, and a Potential Non-Designation

It was a jam-packed Heritage Guelph agenda that took the committee right to the finish line in terms of timing. There was a visit from the clerks’ office to talk about changes coming to the advisory committees later this year, and to get Heritage Guelph’s feedback, and then everyone got hung up on a matter of not designating a property and how tricky it can be with certain kinds of buildings. So let’s history nerd out with the recap! Continue reading “RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks at Changes, and a Potential Non-Designation”

MEETING PREVIEW: Heritage Guelph Meeting for January 29, 2024

Two Heritage Guelph meetings in the same month? What a treat! This one will focus on one of the two ongoing Heritage Conservation District studies happening now at the city, the one that’s focused on Downtown. Once again, the heritage committee will be asked to bring their discerning eye to the plan so far, including the proposed boundaries for the exact area of the district. MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for January 26, 2024

There’s no January chill at the Grand River Conservation Authority, and this month there’s a lot of end of the year/beginning of the year business to get to including, perhaps most importantly, the budget. The board will take their second crack at the budget for 2024 before it goes on for final passage next month, and the municipalities they represent will find out how much it will cost. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg… Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for January 26, 2024”
