MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for October 30, 2023
It’s Devils Night, and this year the Devil’s business seems to involve the monthly board of directors meeting of the Guelph Public Library. Nothing particularly evil, or diabolical, is on the agenda though, just the usual business of running the local library system including budgets, the state of services and usage, plus the ongoing developments of the new library project. Plus, what issues are top of mind for library advocacy? Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for October 30, 2023”
MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for October 27, 2023
Like a lot of local boards and committees this month, the focus is on money matters at October’s meeting of the Grand River Conservation Authority membership. The 2024 budget has come due for this board, and it may be the lowest increase of any board this year. Also of note, especially for those of us in Guelph, is a new piece of infrastructure at our eponymous lake in the north end. But that’s not all so check out the rest of the preview. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for October 27, 2023”
MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for October 19, 2023
Wait a minute! Didn’t we have a Guelph Police Services Board meeting once already this month?! Well, technically, that was the slightly delayed September meeting, so this is the “real” meeting for October, and it will be a relatively brief one at that. On this agenda, there’s a couple of the usual reports, and there’s also the final passage of the operating budget for the Guelph Police until 2027 before it goes on for final, final approval at city council. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for October 19, 2023”
MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for October 19, 2023
This month’s Transit Advisory Committee meeting will be a brief one it seems. There’s only three topics on the agenda along with the usual general update from transit management including the status of the fleet’s four electric buses. Mostly, it seems like this meeting will be dealing with matters of feedback, so if you have a question or concern, reach out to a TAC member near you. In the meantime, here’s the agenda… Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Transit Advisory Committee Meeting for October 19, 2023”
MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for October 17, 2023
It’s that time again for the Accessibility Advisory Committee, on schedule, almost exactly two months since the last one. For this October meeting, the AAC will talk about that special workshop that didn’t happen, new road designs, new playground designs, the accessible future of Guelph’s patios, and a special note about how the federal government undid a whole lot of good work on plastics. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for October 17, 2023”
MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for October 11, 2023
At October’s Social Services Committee meeting of Wellington County things will be relatively more laid back than September’s packed agenda. This month there will be mostly discussions about spending and the funding of programs, plus there will be a visit from the gang that runs the local health van who are on the look out for some funding of their own. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: County Social Services Meeting for October 11, 2023”

The numbers will be laid out for everyone at this meeting, and that means both the future budget and the status of the current one. In other news, we’ll find out how things are going downtown? Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for October 5, 2023”
MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for October 2, 2023
The Accessibility Advisory Committee usually meets every other month, but in October we’re getting two different AAC meetings. Why are we so lucky? Well, this meeting is exclusively about potential voting options for the next municipal election in 2026. Members of the committee will workshop the various options, give their expert feedback and then leave it staff to come back with… Well, why ruin the surprise? Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for October 2, 2023”
