It was a very busy day for the Heritage Guelph committee who had a slate of new designations for their consideration, plus the surprise destruction of a heritage feature on the OR Lands. Here’s the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Heritage Guelph Gets Unsuccessfully Waved Off from Designating Old Farm”

RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks at OR Land Contamination and Next Designation
This month’s Heritage Guelph meeting covered a lot of ground. Two more properties are now on their way to city council for final approvals, but one property in the east end was de-listed from the heritage registry after being unable to put a birth date on an old barn, and there are some doings on the Ontario Reformatory Lands that might mean at least one building gets torn down. Let’s recap this month’s meeting… Continue reading “RECAP: Heritage Guelph Looks at OR Land Contamination and Next Designation”

RECAP: Heritage Moves Ahead with OR Land Boundary and “Top 11” List
In many ways, the February Heritage Guelph meeting was a continuation of the January meeting with the committee affirming the new boundaries for the proposed Cultural Heritage District for the OR Lands. In other news, Heritage Guelph took staff’s Top 10 list of the non-downtown heritage properties they’re most concerned about and added a couple of amendments including a big one on Catholic Hill. For February’s Heritage Guelph meeting, it feels like we’re resetting the table for the tricky years ahead.
