This Week at Council: Internal Audit and Ambulance Affairs

To start February (at least in terms of city council business), there was a consideration of the fairly unsexy but important business of the internal audit, including future value-for-money audits. Let’s dive into the recap!

Committee of the Whole Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the February 4, 2025 Meeting?

It’s back to Committee of the Whole to start February with a meeting that shouldn’t make too many waves. The audit committee will take the wheel for most of this agenda, which will highlight the work of the internal auditor and it will also introduce council to a new policy to collect parking fines. And if all that isn’t scintillating enough, we will wrap up with a trip back to public services and paramedics. Let’s dig into it! It was a new year with a sort of new Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee with a definitely new chair. RECAP: Social Services Committee Plans the Future of Paramedic Services

This November meeting of the Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee saw much of the focus fall on the second half of that long name. After hearing about the lack of ambulance news at last month’s meeting, the City of Guelph staff came well prepared for this one. Too much? Maybe. In other news, some social housing in Guelph are getting green upgrades and there’s good news for childcare. Here’s the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Social Services Committee Plans the Future of Paramedic Services”

MEETING PREVIEW: Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee Meeting for November 13, 2024

After a very consequential October meeting of the Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee don’t expect things to get anymore chill for November in spite of the cool weather. At this meeting, look for a full scale update about Paramedic Services (or Land Ambulance depending on where you stand in Wellington County), and, in keeping with the season, we will also visit some budget matters. This Week at Council: Shareholder Reports and Drill Hall Decision Refined

The end of June brings the regular meeting of council, but more specifically it means an update about the business of Guelph Municipal Holdings Inc and Guelph Junction Railway, companies owned by the City of Guelph making city council their one and only shareholder. As for that regular meeting, think plastics, and think about that big decision on the Dill Hall for which some other artists in the community had notes. Here’s the recap… Continue reading “This Week at Council: Shareholder Reports and Drill Hall Decision Refined”
