Even though there was an outbreak cancelled just five days ago on Friday, and the another outbreak was expected to be ended later this week, it looks like COVID-19 is not finished with the hospital yet. This time last week news broke that there was another COVID-19 outbreak at Guelph General Hospital, it was the first one of 2022, but it was not, as it turned out, the last. Earlier this week, the Hospital announced that they had a second, separate outbreak on a different floor, but on this Friday there’s at least some good news in that the Hospital is back to having just one outbreak. Yes, There’s Another COVID-19 Outbreak in Guelph General
As people everywhere keep hoping that we’ve turned the corner with the Omicron variant, there was bad news coming out of the Guelph General Hospital late on Tuesday. For the second time in less than a week, a new COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the hospital, one floor up and on the opposite side of the building where one more patient and one more staff member have now caught the virus. Guelph General Hospital’s Got a New Outbreak to Go With the Old One
Almost exactly one month after a COVID-19 outbreak was declared at the Guelph General Hospital, and just one week after the Hospital’s oxygen tank was so dangerously low that a Code Orange was declared, there’s a whole new outbreak on Delhi Street. Late on Friday afternoon, the Hospital announced that they are battling another outbreak of COVID-19 with one staff member and one patient testing positive. Low Oxygen Makes Guelph General Hospital Declare Code Orange
It’s the mechanical malfunction you definitely don’t want to deal with while in the middle of a respiratory infection-based pandemic, but on Friday Guelph General Hospital had to hit a code orange because levels were low in the oxygen tank. It’s a struggle that the hospital probably didn’t want to have as they continue to battle COVID cases in hospital and an intensive care unit that’s bursting. Local Hospitals Temporarily Suspending Non-Urgent Procedures
Perhaps it was inevitable, but with the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases expected to have an equal impact on the number of COVID patients in hospital ICUs, our local hospital network has decided to hit the pause button on non-urgent procedures, at least on a temporary basis. For the first two weeks of 2022, Guelph General Hospital plus Grad River Hospital, Cambridge Memorial, St. Mary’s, North Wellington Healthcare, and Grove’s Memorial are going urgent only. COVID-19: Outbreak at Guelph General While Ontario Announces Help for Businesses
For the first time since May, there’s a COVID-19 outbreak at Guelph General Hospital. The news comes just a day after the hospital announced that they’re limiting visitors for patients starting Thursday, and more than seven months after the last outbreak. At the same time, there was some good news on Wednesday as the Government of Ontario announced that there’s help for small businesses fighting to stay open in the wake of Omicron. Guelph General Restricts Visitors While Dr. Moore Pulls Out the Stops
Just a few days before Christmas, the Guelph General Hospital announced Tuesday that the rapid spread of the Omicron variant is forcing them to tighten the rules around visitors. As of Thursday, all hospital patients will only be allowed one visitor for the duration of their stay, and for anyone that doesn’t wish to be a COVID patient in the hospital, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore says he’s trying to help you get a booster. Guelph General Wants to See Proof of Vaccination for Visitors
It should be a force of habit by now, but Guelph General Hospital is joining the list of places where you will have to show proof vaccination if you want to pop by. Starting on November 9, the Hospital will be initiating a proof of vaccination requirement for many of the people visiting the hospital in what their management is calling an additional step to ensure the health and safety of staff and patients. Hospitals Add Vaccine Mandate, Public Health Suggests Businesses Do Same
If you work at City Hall, any City facility, the Guelph Public Library, and the University of Guelph, then you will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, so it would make sense for workers at area hospitals to be fully vaccinated. A joint statement today from Guelph General Hospital another other institutions confirms a coming vaccine mandate, while Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is asking all businesses to plan along similar lines.
