MEETING PREVIEW: Grand River Conservation Membership Meeting for February 28, 2025

This month, the Grand River Conservation Membership meeting falls on the last day of the month, so what have they saved the best for last? Well they’ve certainly saved their budget for last out of all the area shared services, so we will get that final vote at this meeting. RECAP: GRCA Board Pressed Again to Save Nature Centres

Like many boards, this month marks the last meeting of the year for the Grand River Conservation Authority membership, and there were a couple of issues addressed that are going to be an ongoing issue as we enter the new year. Once again, the board was pressured about the changes to the outdoor education program and nature centres, but there was also some last-minute changes to 2024 fees thanks to Queen’s Park. Just because it’s almost the holidays that doesn’t mean the Grand River Conservation Authority board is slacking off. There’s a long list of reports to get through before everyone can take their Christmas break from Strategic Plan thoughts to changes to the Procedural Bylaw to ongoing prep to pass the 2024 budget. GUELPH POLITICAST #262 – The View From the GRCA Board

It’s a difficult time for conservation authorities across Ontario. Pandemic? Yeah, that’s part of it. Conservation authorities can’t take part in their usual programming, and they’ve lost normally dependable funds because of that, plus there are all the new precautions they have to take in areas of their parks that are open. Library Keeping to Curbside, GRCA Shutting Parks Again

In parts of Ontario, there’s a certain anxiousness about the second stage of the Ontario government’s re-opening of the economy, but things are not going to totally get back to normal in at least two parts of Guelph society.
