This Week at Council: Housing Request Opens Door to August Meeting

It was supposed to be the last council meeting before the usual August break, but the events of this week’s regular meeting of council did something unusual: It ended with a cliffhanger. This Week at Council – Bars, Bylaws, and Bicycles

Some committees take the summer off, but Committee of the Whole is still in session, at least for July anyway. Committee of the Whole Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the July 5 Meeting?

We’ve got one more month of meetings before the start of the annual summer break, and it’s going to be a pretty busy month. To kick off July, city council will be looking to the future a new strategic plan, a new e-scooter bylaw, new performance goals for paramedics, and a permanent version of the seasonal patio program. This Week at Council: Police Money and Paramedic Needs

This week, there back-to-back council meetings, and one of them looked bigger than normal in terms of the number of people around the horseshoe, which was really more like a round table. A joint meeting of Guelph City Council and Wellington County Council was held to talk about the issues facing paramedics, while Guelph council on it’s own had to deal with a matter of funding more police downtown. City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the Meeting on May 31?

To end the month of May, literally, the regular council meeting looks to be relatively laid back with a simple review of decisions already made at Committee of the Whole, a decision to make about a new appointment to a local board, and then ratifying a mid-year budget decision made at the Guelph Police Services Board.
