For the first time in 2025, the members of the Transit Advisory Committee got together to say goodbye. Guelph Transit General Manager Robin Gerus announced his retirement and introduced his successor to the committee, but it wasn’t all bittersweet news. T.A.C. also talked about some changes to various fares and other work coming up in 2025. So let’s dig into the business of busing in this recap of the meeting…! RECAP: Heritage Guelph Pushes Staff to Do More on OR Lands and U of G!
It was rough going for the first Heritage Guelph meeting of 2025, and not just because of the content! It took the better part of an hour for City of Guelph staff to work out some technical difficulties, including a switch involving online platforms, and then they dug into the agenda, which leaned heavily on a lot of committee concerns about the future of the OR Lands, and the future of heritage buildings at the University of Guelph. Here’s the recap! Continue reading “RECAP: Heritage Guelph Pushes Staff to Do More on OR Lands and U of G!”
MEETING PREVIEW: Heritage Guelph Meeting for January 13, 2025
Heritage Guelph gets back to work promising a busy 2025 after what was definitely a very busy 2024! No major heritage designations this week, or any complicated fights about demolitions at this meeting (we think). There will be a kind of demolition discussion at this month’s meeting though, and there will be some discussion about the workload ahead, and then we will head downtown for another big project! RECAP: Library Board Approves Strat Plan Then Goes In-Camera for Last ’24 Meet
The last meeting of the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors for 2024 (sadly), was a mostly straightforward affair. First, the board looked at the completed strategic plan for the next four years and then they spent 90 minutes in-camera talking about two different matters involving personnel, one brief and one kind of long. We can’t talk about what happens in-camera, but we can talk about the rest. Here’s the recap! Continue reading “RECAP: Library Board Approves Strat Plan Then Goes In-Camera for Last ’24 Meet”
MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for November 25, 2024

For everything else, please check out the preview for this November meeting of the Library Board. Continue reading “MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for November 25, 2024”
RECAP: Library Board Looks at Strategy, Vision and Art
The October meeting of the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors went long even thought there were only three reports for discussion on the agenda. Of course, one of those reports as about setting a course for the Library’s strategic vision and mission over the next five years, so may be it shouldn’t be surprising that there was a lot to talk about. And if you like public art discussions, you are definitely going to like what else is in this recap! Continue reading “RECAP: Library Board Looks at Strategy, Vision and Art”

RECAP: Transit Committee Stays the Course as Job Action Looms
It was a relatively brief meeting of the Transit Advisory Committee this month, and that’s in-spite of the rather long shadow being cast by the potential for job action in the next few weeks. There was also some rather sad news about one member of the committee but otherwise it seemed like business as usual as Transit, like every other city department, heads into budget season. To get those and other details, check out the recap below…

RECAP: The AAC Tells Staff – Respectfully – That They’re the Captain Now!
This month’s Accessibility Advisory Committee was delayed by two days, and if you think that wasn’t a topic of conversation, you are wrong! Still stinging from the lack of engagement before the passage of the Public Space Use Bylaw almost two months ago, the AAC had some notes about their relationship with staff, and they also had notes about the bylaw. For that, and all the rest of the agenda, check out the recap below… Continue reading “RECAP: The AAC Tells Staff – Respectfully – That They’re the Captain Now!”
