MEETING PREVIEW: Heritage Guelph Meeting for August 14, 2023

We interrupt this summer vacation for a Heritage Guelph meeting. The time and day was reserved, though staff weren’t initially sure that there would be a need for this August meeting, but it seems like there’s one thing that they want to get done before September arrives. Put your thinking caps on because we’re going back to the property formally known as the Ontario Reformatory for a look at its future on paper. RECAP: Social Services Committee Approves 65 Delhi Tender

This month’s meeting of the Wellington County Social Services Committee required a field trip up the road to Aboyne. At the Wellington County Museum and Archive, the committee met for an unexpected – and brief – July get together to discuss one topic, but it was a pretty important one given the need to progress on a new transitional housing project that’s already been two long years in the making. So how did it go? Here’s the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Social Services Committee Approves 65 Delhi Tender”

RECAP: Police Board Talks About Capital Budget and Noisy Cars Before Summer Break

The July meeting of the Guelph Police Services Board might have taken place in summer, but it was already thinking about fall. The big item at this month’s meeting was about the capital budget for the next four-year multi-year budget and the capital forecast for the next decade. You’ll have to wait for the fall to get the final numbers, but for now you can also get the latest about downtown officers, and the noisy vehicle paradox. Here’s the recap… Continue reading “RECAP: Police Board Talks About Capital Budget and Noisy Cars Before Summer Break”

MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Police Services Board for July 20, 2023

The Guelph Police Services Board is still meeting, for July anyway, and there are a couple of different pieces of business that they need to dispatched before summer vacation begins. Summer vacation started later than usual for Heritage Guelph who held their July meeting Monday with an agenda featuring three projects. RECAP: Accessibility Committee Looks at Transportation and Parks Planning

The June meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee was mostly about getting around. The AAC was asked for their opinion about parking in the downtown, the future of complete streets, the needs of mobility transit, the quality of bus shelters and accessible alternatives to Uber and other ride shares. If that wasn’t enough, the committee also revisited the Parks and Rec Master Plan in what’s again a very packed agenda! RECAP: Library Board Takes Care of Business Before Groundbreaking

If it was hard for the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors to get through their meeting on Monday night, it would have surely been because they were almost 12 hours away from the groundbreaking for the new library building (and the rest of the Baker District Redevelopment). The business was done just the same though as the board looked at the mid-year report, reviewed the 2022 financials, and more. MEETING PREVIEW: Accessibility Advisory Committee for June 20, 2023

And if you’re thinking that all those things have a transportation element to them, you’re right, which is why we’re going to be talking about transit too!
