RECAP: GRCA Navigates Budget and Composition Changes at May Meeting

This month membership meeting of the Grand River Conversation Authority was kind of meta. A big portion of the meeting was about the future of the membership composition, at least when it comes to Hamilton’s representation, and speaking of the future, there was also some discussion about the coming budget process. RECAP: TAC Hears Next Steps for Fare Review and Central Station Upgrades

At the month’s Transit Advisory Committee meeting they looked towards the future. With the business of passing the new fare strategy concluded last month at city council, staff are now implementing the plan and there was an update about that process. RECAP: Committee of Adjustment Hands Out Minor Variances and Talks Bylaw

As compared to April’s marathon Committee of Adjustment meeting, the May meeting was a breeze. There were just four applications on the agenda, but there wasn’t a lot to fight about, and after that, staff gave a presentation about recent changes to two big committee-adjacent matters: the Ontario government’s decision about the latest Official Plan update, and the newly approved Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw. RECAP: Social Services Committee Reviews Housing and Childcare Changes Are Coming

There wasn’t much to do for the Wellington County Social Services committee at the May meeting, but there was a hint of some changes to come. Ontario Works was able to take the month off, but there was some interesting new developments to discuss around childcare in the region, at least in terms of future funding. RECAP: Library Board Tackles HR Concerns and Their Friends

This month, the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors focused on staffing matters. The annual HR report was among the presentations, and it does seem like the people working for our local library system are happy with their jobs.
