Where’s the hottest political action in Guelph this election? It’s in Ward 5! There are 10 people who are vying for those two council seats in this campaign, especially for that vacancy left by the one incumbent running now for mayor. The other incumbent? She’s one of the guests on this edition of the podcast, but before that we will hear from one of her challengers.

First up, we will talk to registered veterinary technician and first-time candidate Wesley Harris about his campaign slogan “common sense with compassion”, managing the differences between real safety concerns and the perceptions of being unsafe, and how he will measure what is a “meaningful benefit to Guelph” if he’s elected.

After that, we will hear from Cathy Downer who will tell us why she’s still invested in being a city councillor after decades of service, what that experience tells her about the main problems facing the new council when it sits in November, and why she can still be a change agent as the most senior member of city council.
