There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Missing Person
The Guelph Police Service is looking for Jennifer, 44, who was last seen approximately 5 pm on Monday August 31. She was last seen in the area of Gordon Street and Nottingham Street. Jennifer is described as 5’7” with a thin build, brown short hair and blue eyes and tattoos on her left forearm and lower back. She was last seen wearing the clothing as shown in the attached photo and may have a bicycle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212.
Assault
On Thursday, a 36-year-old Guelph man was arrested by another police service and returned to Guelph where he was charged with assault with a weapon. The charge dates back to July when emergency series were called to Macdonell Street business one morning after a man had been injured during an altercation with an unknown man outside a business near Wyndham and Cork. The victim was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre for the treatment of a laceration to his chest.
On Friday, a 42-year-old Guelph man was arrested for assault causing bodily harm and mischief under $5,000 for a September 1 incident in the west end involving a dispute between roommates. (See last week’s Notes.)
A 66-year-old Guelph man was charged with assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, four counts of breaching probation orders and two counts of breaching bail conditions on Monday afternoon. A woman reported a man known to her asked her for cigarettes, and when she refused he retrieved a baseball bat and smashed her window, and then he approached another woman he knew and chased her with a golf club around the parking lot.
Break-Ins
On Tuesday morning, police were called to a business near Silvercreek and Speedvale where there was reported damage to the back door, including fresh pry marks to the frame and lock area. Part of a tool was found on the ground. On Wednesday, a 35-year-old Guelph man was arrested for two counts each of break and enter and wearing a disguise for two break-ins within seven hours of each other at a business on Quebec Street last weekend.
Drugs
A 60-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breaching court orders downtown on Thursday morning. Police were called after someone reported a man in possession of a handgun and during a search a black BB gun was located inside a reusable shopping bag. The suspect was transported to the police station, where a further search revealed approximately $800 worth of fentanyl and almost $900 in cash.
Impaired Driving
A 39-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired operation on Sunday morning after police found him asleep in the driver’s seat of a truck, which was blocking the only entrance to the building for approximately three hours. After failing a roadside breath test the man was transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Theft
At approximately 3 pm, a Community Resource Officer was leaving the school when he was approached by a student who said he was followed into the bathroom by two males; they pushed him against the wall and stole his wallet before fleeing. School officials reviewed security video and confirmed the two males do not attend the school. They were described as:
- Brown skin, black hair, goatee, black t-shirt, blue pants, red and white runners
- Brown skin, black hair, black t-shirt, black pants, white runners

A 30-year-old Guelph man was charged with trespassing near a residence, two counts of theft under $5,000, possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and 10 counts of driving while prohibited after residents of an east-end neighbourhood shared security video of a man stealing from cars in the area of Severn and Henderson early Monday. Police believe there may be additional victims who had their vehicles entered and property stolen. Theft (Auto)
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three vehicle theft attempts in the east end early Friday. First at around 2:30 am, two males in hoodies and face coverings canvased a house near Watson and Eastview with one apparently checking the VIN of a 2025 Toyota 4Runner. The two fled in a silver sedan. After that, a resident of Eastview reported an attempted theft of his 2024 Toyota Tundra. A man was seen getting into a silver sedan after the alarm went off and the truck’s side window had been smashed and wires pulled from under the dash. At nearly the same time, a resident near Grange and Victoria reported someone walking around his Honda CRV. He yelled at the man, who got into the passenger side of another CRV which quickly left the area. At approximately 9:45 am on Tuesday, a resident of Waterloo Avenue reported his grey 2023 Honda Civic Sport had been stolen overnight from the parking lot of his apartment building. He reported finding broken glass in the area, including fragments he believed were from the sunroof. A short time later, a resident of an adjacent building reported an apparent attempted vehicle theft after he came downstairs to find the door handle of his 2024 Acura RDX had been pulled off and the sunroof was shattered. On Sunday morning a resident of Silvercreek Parkway North reported her white 2020 Acura RDX had been stolen overnight from the parking lot of her townhouse complex. A short time later a resident called to report property including ownership and insurance documents had been found behind a nearby school. Traffic
A 16-year-old boy from Wellington County was charged with stunt driving, speeding and careless driving on Saturday night after an officer doing speed enforcement near Gordon Street and Clair Road clocked a vehicle travelling 137 kilometres per hour in a posted zone.
Seven other drivers were stopped for stunt driving last weekend, with their speeds ranging from 41 kilometres per hour to 55 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.
A 20-year-old Hamilton man was charged with careless driving, fail to remain, operating an unsafe vehicle, driving without insurance and several equipment violations under the Highway Traffic Act after a collision Tuesday afternoon. A woman was rear-ended while stopped at Willow and Edinburgh, and the other driver walked away from the scene. An inspection of the vehicle revealed several defects including improper tires, no mufflers, faulty windshield wipers and no front licence plate
Other Notes
A 45-year-old Guelph woman was arrested Thursday for failing to provide necessaries of life following an investigation that started in June. A man called 9-1-1 to report a small child had been left in a car outside a business on Woodlawn Road West. When no parents came outside after 10 minutes he opened the car to find the child unconscious, breathing heavily and sweating profusely. The vehicle was not running and the windows were open one to two inches.
A 39-year-old Guelph man was charged with escaping lawful custody, obstructing police, breaching a probation order and two counts of breaching a bail order on Wednesday afternoon when he was observed drinking in a downtown park. An officer recognized him and knew he was on bail with conditions to reside at an address in Paris and not to be out without his surety. The man was told he was under arrest but refused to cooperate and fled the area but police later caught up with him.
A 32-year-old Guelph man was charged with two counts of committing an indecent act on Wednesday after police received a report of a man partially nude and possibly touching himself in a park near Eramosa and Victoria. The man was observed leaving the park with his pants still around his knees and a short time later walked past a nearby school.
