We’ve got one more month of meetings before the start of the annual summer break, and it’s going to be a pretty busy month. To kick off July, city council will be looking to the future a new strategic plan, a new e-scooter bylaw, new performance goals for paramedics, and a permanent version of the seasonal patio program. This Week at Council: Non-Stop Governance and Downtown’s Future
It was a long afternoon and evening in June at Committee of the Whole. This Week at Council: Police Money and Paramedic Needs
This week, there back-to-back council meetings, and one of them looked bigger than normal in terms of the number of people around the horseshoe, which was really more like a round table. A joint meeting of Guelph City Council and Wellington County Council was held to talk about the issues facing paramedics, while Guelph council on it’s own had to deal with a matter of funding more police downtown. Committee of the Whole Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the June 6 Meeting?
It’s June! The weather is nice, and there are lots of outdoor activities to take part in, so naturally this month’s Committee of the Whole agenda is one of the longest in some time. In terms of long-term issues it’s going to cover all the bases including social services, community engagement, council governance, water, Smart Cities, strategic planning and downtown renewal. City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the Meeting on May 31?
To end the month of May, literally, the regular council meeting looks to be relatively laid back with a simple review of decisions already made at Committee of the Whole, a decision to make about a new appointment to a local board, and then ratifying a mid-year budget decision made at the Guelph Police Services Board. This Week at Council: Money and Scooters
The month of May started a day late at city council with a two topic Committee of the Whole meeting that focused on last year’s money matters, and then looked to the more immediate future with a new bylaw. In this meeting, there was a rather substantial budget variance to dispatch, and then there was a bylaw for the use of escooters that has to come back to council in less than two months.
