Council business wrapped up for the month of February with a meeting that covered a variety of topics, and included some special guests. A follow-up delegation about transit in St. George’s Square led to a robust conversation about the subject from a variety of points of view, and then council made some appointments, and talked about pretty big re-organization for a major committee that will have more direct City involvement now. City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the February 27 Meeting?

Although we’ve technically not quite gotten to the end of the month, we’ve at least gotten to the agenda for the end of the month. At the regular council meeting on the last Tuesday in February, we will cover again all the business from Committee of the Whole and then get into new business, which involves an annual visit from someone special and some big changes to an importance shared services committee. MEETING PREVIEW: Committee of Adjustment Meeting for February 8, 2024

Committee of Adjustment will get together again in February to tackle a fresh slate of minor zoning variance requests, about half of which will be familiar if you’re a fan of Committee of Adjustment business. As for the new business, think bigger! More space for a driveway, more floor space for an accessory building, and more floor space for a garage. This Week at Council: Royal City Mission Saved (For Now) and The Budget

This week council took a couple of tough meetings. On Tuesday, there was a question about homelessness downtown, but the controversial motion proposed by Mayor Cam Guthrie had been pulled. Still, there’s was a matter of funding for Royal City Mission and their daytime shelter services, council had to decided how and if they were going to fund that further. MEETING PREVIEW: Committee of Adjustment Meeting for December 14, 2023

There’s no early holiday break for the Committee of Adjustment, they still have a pretty busy agenda of new applications this month, and they’re all asking for a variety of variances. A new balcony, a new front yard, some new additions, and a couple of new accessory units are among the items up for committee’s consideration, and the applicants are hoping that it’s a happy Christmas for their construction projects! City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the Meeting on November 28?

This last meeting of the month is not the last meeting of the month in November. No, after this meeting there’s still the multiyear budget decision meeting the very next day, but on this night, there’s some relatively lighter matters to consider.
