RECAP: Library Board Hears That Services Are as Popular as Ever

RECAP: Accessibility Committee Offers Notes on Slate of Future Projects

The regularly schedule Accessibility Advisory Committee for February featured a packed slate of upcoming City of Guelph construction projects including a new splash pad at Margaret Greene Park and the Emma-to-Earl Pedestrian Bridge, plus there was some early feedback offered to the Downtown Parking Master Plan and the Cycling Network study for College Avenue. RECAP: One Short on Quorum So No Transit Committee Meeting this Month

Sometimes you go to a meeting and there’s no meeting. The Transit Advisory Committee was one member shy of quorum for this month’s gathering – one person was feeling unwell and two were unfortunately out of town – so the business of TAC’s February meeting now moves to March. RECAP: Police Board Hears About BEAT Success and Strat. Plan Objectives

February’s Guelph Police Services Board meeting was a success story, and that success belonged to the Break Enter Auto Theft unit. The efficacy of that unit was the main point of interest at this month’s board meeting, and there was also some discussion about accomplishing the goals of the Service’s Strategic Plan after a very consequential year that was filled with both challenges and opportunities according to Chief Gord Cobey. RECAP: Heritage Moves Ahead with OR Land Boundary and “Top 11” List

In many ways, the February Heritage Guelph meeting was a continuation of the January meeting with the committee affirming the new boundaries for the proposed Cultural Heritage District for the OR Lands. In other news, Heritage Guelph took staff’s Top 10 list of the non-downtown heritage properties they’re most concerned about and added a couple of amendments including a big one on Catholic Hill. RECAP: Committee of Adjustment Approves Garage Conversion Over Staff Objection

This month’s Committee of Adjustment saw a number of variances handed out in the name of creating more units in the city, but only one caused any real dilemma. When one man wanted to turn the garage on his rental property into an additional accessory unit, City staff and his neighbour both said no, and then it was up to the committee to unravel the moral conundrum: Could they find a way to get to yes to get one more until in stock? RECAP: Board of Health Looks to the Future, Including Catch-Up Jabs for Kids
