City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the December 9 Meeting?

The regular council meeting was supposed to take place on December 16, but with only two things on the agenda, it’s been moved up by a week, plus 30 minutes, and will be dealt with on the same night as the planning meeting. So what’s on the agenda?

Note: If you want to register as a delegate for any of these items on the Committee agenda, then you have to get in touch with the City Clerk’s office by 10 am on Friday December 6.

Another Note: The start time for this meeting is 6 pm, which the planning meeting will start at the usual time at 6:30 pm.

CLOSED MEETING: CS-2019-101 Canadian Union of Public Employees Collective Bargaining Mandate.

Digital Agenda Management Demonstration – City Clerk Stephen O’Brien will demonstrate for council the new way they’ll be accessing agendas and reports for meetings in the new year. Before you ask, yes, this is part of the City’s initiative to tackle climate change because going to an electronic data management system for meeting materials will save the City over 20,000 pieces of paper per year. The digital agendas will begin in January, which means that you’ll no longer see lengthy and hard to search .pdf files for meetings, and the new system will also make it easier for councillors to ask questions of staff, and get answers.

Consent Agenda items from the Committee of the Whole meeting on December 2. (Items can be pulled by a councillor seeking additional information, otherwise all items will be voted on as a slate without further debate.)
