The first full meeting of the all-new, not-so-different Heritage Advisory Committee got down to business, but only with two new designations. MEETING PREVIEW: Heritage Advisory Committee Meeting for July 3, 2025

No summer break for the Heritage Advisory Committee, at least not yet. Before getting an August break, your local heritage protection committee will tackle a couple of items, including a pretty major one; it’s time to bone up on your Official Plan policy, at least so far as protecting cultural heritage goes! Plus, there are at least a couple of new designations warming up in the bullpen, which is a warm-up for a tonne of work coming in the fall. GUELPH POLITICAST #446 – The Good Old Guelph (feat. Stephen Robinson & Jack Mallon)

There has been a lot of heritage news this year, and especially in the last couple of weeks. This should not be surprising because heritage staff in all municipalities have been in a mad scramble these last few years to designate as much heritage as possible before the end of this year due to Bill 23. That changed back in the spring, so it’s probably a good time now to catch our breathe and look at the work done so far, and all the work that is to come.
