City is Out to Collect $14 Million in Outstanding Fines
City Hall is always being criticized for wasting money, but what if there was a big pile of money out there that the City was entitled to and they weren’t chasing it down? Ceremony Kicks Off 154 Weeks of Renovations Guelph Police Headquarters
Now surrounded by blue construction fencing, the headquarters for the Guelph Police Service looks very different today than it will three years from now. Guthrie Delivers his First State of the City
Earlier today, Mayor Cam Guthrie did what mayors do and delivered a speech. In this instance, the speech was the annual State of the City address at a breakfast get together held by the Guelph Chamber of Commerce. This was Guthrie’s first State of the City, and like the more famous “State of the Union” addresses made by the chief executive of the country immediately to the south of us, it’s filled with fine platitudes and a lot of feather fluffing about the awesomeness of the Royal City (not that it isn’t well deserved of course). It was a little over six months ago that Cam Guthrie was elected to be Mayor of the City of Guelph, but those first four months on the job haven’t been all getting settled, hand-shaking and memorizing the names of city hall staff. No, Mayor Guthrie had to get right down to work, and work with the new council, to put together a budget for 2015. No easy feat even if everyone on council has experience parsing those huge budget books, and no easy task when you’ve made a lot of promises about changing the way business is done at 1 Carden Street.
