POLICE NOTES: School Evacuated, E-Bikes Taken, and 2 Kilos of Fentanyl Seized

There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault

Police are looking for a man who threatened a customer at a south end grocery store to pay for his groceries. He’s described as black, wearing dark grey clothing and is often carrying white plastic bags. Break-Ins

A 24-year-old Guelph man was arrested Thursday for break and enter, mischief, arson, breach of probation, possession of stolen property and possession of break in instruments. This is in connection to several incidents dating back to March 2026 including the theft of bicycles from backyard sheds on three separate occasions. Drugs

On June 2, police executed search warrants in Guelph, Brantford and North York following a targeted fentanyl trafficking investigation. Four people were arrested in connection with the investigation. Approximately 1.9 kilograms of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $200,000 officers seized more than 50 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $5,000, Canadian currency, digital scales, cutting agents, ammunition and a stolen e-bike were recovered. The seized fentanyl is believed to be intended for distribution in Guelph. (See above.)

Impaired Driving

A Stouffville man was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample, possessing more than one licence and breaching probation on Wednesday night after a traffic stop on Silvercreek Parkway North.

Theft

On Monday morning two individuals entered an apartment complex with a crowbar, removing a safe lockbox which contained a building master key. CCTV footage then showed them entering the garage area of the building and taking two e-bikes from the garage at approximately 4:30 am. The stolen e-bikes are described as a black Taubik Taurus S and a Grey Costco. Theft (Auto)

On Friday morning, a resident reported that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of their apartment building overnight. The theft is believed to have taken place between 1:30 am and 5 am on May 29. The vehicle is a newer model black soft-top Jeep. Three individuals were arrested on charges including possession of stolen property, possession of a weapon, breach of probation and obstructing police after police were called about vehicle reported stolen earlier that day in Mississauga. The tracking app lead officers to the vehicle, which was outside a business on Stone Road with the engine running. Officers attempted to block the car from leaving and it was then drove into the police vehicles.

Traffic

Two people were served a mandatory 30-day license suspension and 14-day vehicle impound along with future court dates for the stunt driving offences on Monday afternoon. The first driver was observed driving 40 kilometres per hour about the speed limit on Maltby Road and a different driver was found to be travelling 40 kilometres per hour about the speed limit on Stone Road East.

Other Notes

At approximately 1:30 pm on Wednesday, Guelph Police received a report of a threat involving Sir Isaac Brock Public School. The school was evacuated while police investigated and the public was asked to avoid the area. Officers found no evidence to support the threat and were able to reopen the area before 3 p.m. The investigation is ongoing. A Guelph man was arrested for charges of failing to comply with a release order, criminal harassment, indecent act and mischief after it was reported that a neighbour was yelling insults and that he committed an indecent act from his residence at other neighbours.
