City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the Additional November 19, 2024 Meeting?

What’s this? A surprise meeting? Yes, an additional meeting agenda for this coming Tuesday appeared on the council calendar Friday with exactly two items on it. The first is a resolution to a labour matter that’s been the source of much stress lately, and the other is a bit of unfinished business from the meeting earlier this week. For all the completionists out there, here’s the preview of this new meeting!

NOTE #1: The point of this meeting is purely administrative, so there will be no delegates.

NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.

NOTE #3: This meeting takes place immediate before the previously scheduled budget delegation night meeting.

CLOSED MEETING:

Memorandum of Agreement between City of Guelph and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1189 – As you may have heard, a possible strike by Guelph Transit employees was averted with about 24 hours to spare thanks to a tentative deal. But tentative deals can’t be tentative forever, and council will do their part by voting to ratify the new agreement, which they will do in open session once they discuss the deal in closed.

Bylaws from the November 13 Meeting – The meeting was recessed before council could approve the bylaws at the end of the meeting like usual. The three bylaws have been attached to this meeting so that the council resolutions there might be approved. Here are the bylaws that will require approval:

By-law Number (2024 ) – 21008: A by-law to amend the Official Plan for the City of Guelph as it affects property municipally known as 601 Scottsdale Drive and legal described as Block K, Registered Plan 649, City of Guelph (OZS24-007).

By-law Number (2024) – 21009: A by-law to amend By-law Number (2023)-20790, as amended, known as the Zoning By-law for the City of Guelph as it affects the property municipally known 601 Scottsdale Drive and legally described as Block K, Registered Plan 649, City of Guelph, (File# OZS24-007).

By-law Number (2024) – 21013: A by-law to confirm the proceedings of specific agenda items at a meeting of Guelph City Council held November 13, 2024.
