NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday November 15. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.
NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.
2025 Budget Update: Delegations – This may go without saying, but just in case, this meeting is wholly dedicated to delegations from the public about the 2025 budget. It’s worth noting that between the time when this agenda was published and when delegation night actually happens, there will be changes to the budget as presented on October 30. Mayor Cam Guthrie has already said that he will be looking at putting some new funding into the budget for select areas of public concern.
The draft budget formally becomes the budget on November 13, at that point, the only changes that can be implemented will have to be approved by council at their special budget meeting on November 27. After that the mayor will be able to veto any amendment, though the mayor has said that he hopes it doesn’t come to that. But if he does veto, council will need a two-thirds majority, or nine councillors, to override it.
Here’s a recap of budget-related events so far, and a timeline of what comes next after this meeting:
