Taking a break from some of the usual workshop discussion topics like the budget, council procedure, or the Strategic Plan, the spotlight for this workshop will be on long-term care homes. Did you know that the City Guelph oversees a long-term care home called the Elliott Community? The answer to that question is just the beginning of the story at this workshop meeting.
NOTE #1: Since this meeting is a workshop there are no delegation opportunities at these meetings.
NOTE #2: In addition to appearing in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.
Long-Term Care Services and the Role of the Municipality – If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the relationship between the City of Guelph and the Elliott Community, as well as the intricacies of how the City manages the Elliott, then this council workshop might be of particular interest to you.
Colleen Clack-Bush, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Public Services, will guide the members of city council through the history of the Elliott and the history of the City’s management of long-term care, plus the where Guelph stands in the provincial universe of long-term care. After that look for the granular in terms of who manages the Elliott, how it reports to city council, the Elliott’s operating budget, its capital financing needs, and the future expansion approved last year by the Ontario government.
This meeting is a workshop, so it will be purely for information. No recommendations or new directions will be approved coming out of this meeting.
