City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the January 24 Meeting?

Not much to see for this regular meeting of city council, at least not much that you haven’t already seen. Council will revisit the new appoints they approved to Committee of the Whole, decide whether to let one of their colleagues ascend to a higher body (if elected), and will also have an in-camera conversation about the CAO’s performance objectives for the year.

NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday January 20. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.

NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.

NOTE #3: This meeting will start at the special time 4:30 pm, and a council workshop meeting will follow at 6 pm.

CLOSED MEETING:

Chief Administrative Officer Performance Objectives Setting for 2023 – Since this is a matter of human resources, it’s covered under Section 239(2)(b) and (d) of the Municipal Act, related to personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees and labour relations or employee negotiations.

Endorsement of Councillor Chew to Stand for Election on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board of Directors – Ward 6 Councillor Ken Yee Chew is putting his hat into the ring for a place on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Board of Directors for a term ending in November 2026. Council will vote to endorse Chew’s candidacy and vote to assume the costs of his role on the board should his candidacy be successful.

Consent Agenda items from the Committee of the Whole meeting on July 4. (Items can be pulled by a councillor seeking additional information, otherwise all items will be voted on as a slate without further debate.)
