A power outage affected dozens of commercial and residential customers in downtown Guelph after it struck on Friday morning.

Business owners at two stores told Guelph Politico that the blip put their payment systems into disarray and a pawn shop had a line-up due to the technical malfunctions.

Guelph Hydro, newly owned by Alectra, confirmed just before 11 a.m. that there were several properties without power.
