Only Some Minor Changes Coming to Transit Next Month

With September coming, it’s that incredible time of year when it seems like everything gets back to normal. “Normal” is relative in the case of Guelph Transit though, because September is usually the time for some schedule or route changes, and this September is no exception.

In this case, there are three changes of primary interest.

The big one is the restoration of service on route #3 Westmount. As previously requested in a decision by city council back in May, this route is being restored to its original orientation prior to this past January. The new schedule, which is actually the old schedule, is now Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes from 5:45 to 7:15 am and 6:15 pm to 12:15 am; and every 20 minutes from 7:15 am to 6:15 pm. Weekend service remains the same.

Another big change is the route of the #41 Downtown-University Express. On the return trip from the University of Guelph, the Express will now turn right on Wellington, and travel down to Macdonell where it will turn left and enter Guelph Central Station. This change was made on the suggestion of transit operators.

The third change is a few minor tweaks to the posted schedules of the #17 Woodlawn Watson and the #18 Watson Woodlawn.

The full roster of University-centric routes, typically marked with a “U” next to the route number, will all return on September 4.

“As part of our ongoing effort to improve the service for riders, we’re training 11 new drivers and making some minor adjustments to schedules,” said Robin Gerus, interim general manager at Guelph Transit, in a City press release. “Look for the changes to take effect on September 4.”

For the complete schedules and maps for all Guelph Transit routes are available on their website.
