City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the November 22 Meeting?
Surprise! It’s an additional meeting of city council that you didn’t know was going to happen when the month began. Per the request of council themselves, staff have prepared a list of recommendations about further cuts to the 2024-2027 multiyear budget to get the tax burden further down and thus get closer to something more affordable for Guelph residents. RECAP: GRCA Board Hears About December Storm, and Gets New (Old) Executive
Despite the challenges that the Grand River Conservation Authority is facing, January’s board meeting was brief and straightforward as they handled some of the usual beginning-of-the-term business. Chief Cobey Says This Year’s Budget Crunch is a ‘Perfect Storm’
In a year that saw City of Guelph departments and boards do everything possible to keep their budget increase close to zero, the Guelph Police Service asked for a nearly 10 per cent increase. That accounts for over half of this year’s total tax levy increase, which currently sits at 3.78 per cent, but Guelph’s Police Chief is firm, his service needs those fund and the new people they will secure.
