There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 13-year-old Guelph boy was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing stolen property and failing to comply with an undertaking last Friday after a person with a firearm was reported near College and Vanier. Schools in the area were briefly placed in hold and secure before officers located the suspect inside a nearby business. Officers recovered a realistic-looking air pistol as well as a unique knife later determined to be stolen.
A 38-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and breaching a probation order on Thursday morning. Police were called to Stone Road where a woman was threatened by a man with a screwdriver.
A 30-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, assault and two counts of breaching a probation order Sunday morning after police were called to Gordon and Nottingham. A woman said a man was walking with a knife in his hand when he became involved in an altercation with another man. The woman tried to intervene but the suspect held the knife to her throat before pushing her to the ground and falling on top of her.
A 42-year-old Guelph man and 19-year-old Guelph man are each charged with two counts of assault last Sunday afternoon after a motorist attempted to pass two people on a moped but sideswiped them. Two men exited the vehicle and began punching the moped riders. When officers arrived, one of the men became combative and attempted to disrupt the arrest. The older man was also charged with two counts of assault police, obstructing police and careless driving.
A 27-year-old Guelph man was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, mischief under $5,000, false fire alarm, possessing a controlled substance and breaching a probation order last Saturday afternoon after a man was observed smashing the window of a vehicle in a parking lot on Macdonell Street. After causing a ruckus at business when he was refused use of the bathroom, he assaulted a man who confronted him about his behaviour. He then went back to the business and pulled the fire alarm after again being told he could not use the bathroom. Following his arrest a small amount of fentanyl was located.
Break-Ins
On Wednesday, police were called to a plaza on Kortright Road West where the property manager had been investigating a complaint about water leaking into a business and discovered several holes had been drilled into the roof and insulation removed. No entry was gained and it is believed the damage was done within the past two weeks. Monday morning the owner of a business near York and Watson reported a man entered the property late Sunday. He gained access to storage containers and a cube van and a minor theft was reported. He was described as wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, a dark backpack and white shoes. Fraud
On Tuesday evening, a Guelph man told police that he had been visiting an escort website and had contacted several women, but had not followed up with them. He later received a text and phone call from a man upset the complainant had been wasting the women’s time and demanded payment of $2,500 and threatened to harm the complainant and his family if payment was not made. The man visited two Bitcoin ATM machines where he deposited the funds per the caller’s instructions.

Human Trafficking/IPV
A 34-year-old man was arrested for luring a child under 16 and disobeying a court order after an investigation that began in August when a note was found on a Guelph Transit bus which read “looking for a girlfriend” and included a phone number. An undercover investigation which involved communicating with a man using the persona of a 13-year-old girl began and eventually arrangements were made to meet up. On Thursday morning the man was arrested near the location he had arranged to meet the child.
Impaired Driving
A 19-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving last Friday night after a driver exiting a laneway onto Macdonell Street struck a staircase and several other items.The driver ran two stop signs and almost his a pedestrian before leaving the area. His damaged vehicle was located in a downtown parking lot.
A 30-year-old Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving after he was observed leaving a north-end licensed establishment early Saturday and driving erratically.
Theft
An employee reported trying to stop a woman who was stealing items just before 7 pm last Friday from a business near Silvercreek and Willow. The pair struggled with the employee receiving scratches on their arm which required medical attention. The suspect was described as a white female, 25 to 35, 5’8” with a medium build and brown hair with blonde highlights and wearing gym-style black shorts and a black shirt. She entered a grey vehicle described as possibly an older Honda Civic. On Tuesday, a 52-year-old Brampton man was arrested on charges by another police service for the October 2025 theft of more than $1,000 worth of cosmetics stolen from a south end business. One of the men involved was identified as part of an organized theft ring active throughout Southern Ontario.
Theft (Auto)
At approximately 6:30 pm on Wednesday a resident near Victoria and Simmonds reported her white 2017 Hyundai Elantra had been stolen during the previous three hours. Traffic
A 28-year-old Guelph man was charged with speeding and stunt driving. Tuesday morning after a police patrol near Gordon and Clair observed a Jeep SUV travelling at a high rate of speed and clocked it on radar at 111 kilometres per hour in a posted 50 zone.
Other Notes
A 27-year-old Guelph man was located downtown and arrested for mischief under $5,000 after police were called to a business near Willow and Westwood Wednesday morning after a passerby observed a smashed glass door. It turns out a man arrived after midnight to get his stuff and found the business closed so he smashed the door with a rock to get it.
On Monday an 18-year-old Guelph man was arrested for uttering threats after police were notified earlier this month of a Snapchat conversation in which one of the participants posted a photo of himself holding a gun along with threatening messages. The post was later deleted after another participant in the group chat took a screenshot of the image.
