If this project teaches you anything, it’s that there’s some surprising connections between parts of the city even on opposite ends of town from each other. That’s the tease for this week’s election interview mash-up with two more candidates, one from the north end in Ward 1 and one from the south end in Ward 6. What is the surprising issue that connects them? You’ll just have to listen.

We will do north first with Owen Martens, who is running for council for the first time and is one of a class of young people who have signed up for this campaign. We’re going to talk about why young people are so engaged for this election, how his education studying political science prepared him for this run, and why he’s so focused on the separation of powers in his campaign material.

We will then head to the south end and talk to current Ward 6 Councillor Katherine Hauser who will tell us why she’s *not* running for re-election, how she fits in as a candidate in the midst of what looks like a change election, and why she doesn’t want to lose her seat now just as she’s gotten used to the job, and its responsibilities.

So let’s hear from two more council candidates on this week’s Guelph Politicast!
