There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 32-year-old Guelph man was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm for an incident on July 11. The victim was punched and knocked to the ground, and when he tried to stand he was again pushed down. He was transported to hospital and diagnosed with a fractured hip.
On Monday afternoon, a 30-year-old Guelph man was located downtown and arrested for assault, mischief, theft under $5,000 and two counts of breaching a probation order for an incident downtown Sunday evening when a man was punched in the face by another man he didn’t know. The victim tried to defend himself by holding up a clipboard, but the man punched and broke it causing the victim’s documents to fall onto the road. The man then stole the clipboard and some documents and fled.
Break-Ins
Just after 11 pm on Tuesday, the owner of a business near York and Watson called police to report a break-in in progress. The caller said he saw a Mercedes SUV being reversed to a loading dock before three men exited the vehicle and used pry bars to force open a garage door. On Tuesday morning, police were called to a building under construction near Scottsdale and Stone. A contractor arrived and found the locks cut off two large toolboxes in the basement of the building and a number of tools missing. The stolen tools were mostly DeWalt and Milwaukee brands and included drills, grinders, saws and batteries. On Monday morning, the staff of a business near Willow and Westwood called police after arriving to find damage inside the business. It appeared entry was gained by pushing aside a rooftop air conditioner before the suspect possibly fell through the ceiling. A small amount of cash was reported stolen. Fraud
On Friday, police in Quebec arrested a 23-year-old Montreal man for fraud under $5,000. In January 2025, a Guelph man fell victim to a scam during which his cellphone was compromised. He took steps afterwards to change his passwords and increase his security, but forgot to change the email associated to his Aeroplan account. The account was later used to book several flights within Canada. The victim lost the equivalent of nearly $2,100 in points.

Impaired Driving
A 55-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving on Thursday night after a witness saw a moped driver swerving before hitting a curb and falling off near Fleming and O’Connor.
A 43-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving on Wednesday afternoon after police got a call about a possible impaired driver attempting to purchase alcohol at a south-end business.
A 40-year-old Mississauga man was charged with impaired driving on Tuesday night when he lost control of his e-bike. Police found a man lying on the sidewalk near Gordon and Nottingham and investigation revealed that he was riding his e-bike when he lost control and fell over. He was transported to hospital for treatment.
A 54-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving and speeding last Friday evening after a speed enforcement on Whitelaw Road clocked a Ford Bronco travelling 67 kilometres per hour in a posted 40 zone.
Theft
On Friday morning the owner of a local business reported one of his vans had been entered overnight while parked at an employee’s house near Waverley and Windsor. Various power tools and equipment were stolen. Each of the stolen tools had “BYP” scratched into them. On Wednesday a 51-year-old man was arrested by police in another jurisdiction for theft under $5,000 for the August 2025 robbery of $4,600 in alcohol from the LCBO on Scottsdale Drive. This is the third of four suspects arrested, two of the suspects were previously arrested on charges including theft and assault with a weapon.
Theft (Auto)
Just before 6 am on Friday, a resident near Woodland Glen Drive and Old Colony Trail reported her black 2025 Lincoln Navigator was stolen from the driveway. Security video showed two individuals arriving in a black car at 3:30 am. Another black 2025 Navigator had been stolen from a residence near Goodwin and Dominion on Thursday morning.
Also on Friday morning, a resident near Kortright and Rickson reported her blue Ford F250 pickup had been stolen overnight. It had a trailer attached with a personal watercraft on it.
On Wednesday, a resident near Downey and Ptarmigan reported his white 2025 Lincoln Navigator had been stolen overnight. The vehicle’s tracking system showed an address in Mississauga, where officers later recovered the vehicle.
Meanwhile, a 2026 Mercedes SUV stolen in May from a business on Woodlawn Road West was recovered this week at the Port of Montreal.

A 31-year-old Guelph man and 27-year-old Guelph woman were arrested for possessing stolen property over $5,000 after police responded to reports of a truck which had been parked on the road for a few days at Speedvale and Marlborough. Investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen after it was rented in June and never returned. The man is also charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
Just after noon last Saturday a resident near Farley and Pine Ridge reported his black 2021 Lexus RX350 had been stolen overnight, probably sometime between 3 am and 4 am. Some of the victim’s property – including children’s car seats – was later found in front of a residential address in Puslinch. Traffic
A 17-year-old Guelph boy was charged with stunt driving and careless driving for doing donuts in the parking lot on Woodlawn Road East.
A 47-year-old Guelph man, was charged with stunt driving, careless driving and speeding after a police patrol clocked a Mazda travelling at 130 kilometres per hour in a 60 zone on Speedvale near Elmira.
