There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A resident reported being approached by an unknown woman who yelled at them before striking them and fleeing in the area of Waterloo and Glasgow on Tuesday. The resident was not seriously injured and the suspect is described as a white woman, approximately 5’6” with a stocky build, short dark hair and extensive tattoos. A 26-year-old Guelph man was arrested early Saturday for assault police causing bodily harm for an altercation May 18 where police were assisting paramedics downtown when an agitated man grabbed an officer’s arm and squeezed it, leaving several nail marks and drawing blood.
A 28-year-old Guelph man was arrested for six counts of mischief, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and more than 30 counts of breaching probation orders on Tuesday night after police responded to a report of a man damaging vehicles and threatening people. He allegedly damaged vehicles with a hammer in the area of Woodlawn and Victoria, and assaulted and verbally threatened one of the vehicle owners.
Break-Ins
On Saturday morning police were called to an address near Stone and Village Green after the owner had come home to find a number of windows open and footprints in her garden. On Sunday, another resident on the same street reported her home had been entered sometime during the previous few days. She came home and found two windows open and a quantity of jewelry missing. Impaired Driving
A 30-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, flight from police and driving while prohibited on Wednesday evening. Police saw a man they knew to be a prohibited driver and tried to pull him over but the man did not stop. Officers observed two small children inside the car and did not pursue it. On Thursday morning, officers attended an address outside the city where they observed tire tracks going across the lawn and located the vehicle from the previous night.
A 53-year-old Guelph man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and possession schedule I – other drugs early on Tuesday morning after police received a call for an SUV pulling a trailer that had crashed. When officers arrived, a man was sleeping behind the wheel in the driver’s seat and displayed multiple signs of impairment which included when asked to hand officers the keys to the vehicle, the man handed officers a potato. The man was found to have multiple narcotics pipes on himself and in the vehicle.
A 45-year-old Guelph woman was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving last Friday night after police were called to the area of Scottsdale and Stone. A man reported a woman had been following close behind him and honking her horn. When he attempted to pull over and let her pass she collided with his vehicle. She had three times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
Theft
A seasonal power tool was stolen from a Woodlawn Road business on Sunday, and police have received four reports involving someone matching the same description targeting similar merchandise at the same location. The suspect is described as male, approximately 35 to 45 years old, 5’6” and 140 pounds with a slim build, balding with dark hair on the sides. A 33-year-old Guelph woman was charged with robbery and possessing stolen property under $5,000 last Friday night after a woman went into a business near Woodlawn and Woolwich and place a number of items into a bag and tried to leave without paying for them. A struggle ensued with an employee who tried to stop him, during which the suspect attempted to bite the employee. During the fight, she dropped a number of items, including her identification.
Theft (Auto)
A New York woman had her black Lexus SUV with New York licence plates stolen from the parking lot of a Guelph hotel in the south end sometime overnight last Friday. Traffic
Three people are facing stunt driving charges after police conducted speed enforcement on Speedvale Avenue West on Tuesday morning; a 41-year-old man doing 101 kilometres per hour, a 78-year-old man doing 110, and a 42-year-old man doing 101. This area of Speedvale has a 60 kilometres per hour speed limit. Each driver received an automatic 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.
Other Notes
On Wednesday, police arrested a 33-year-old Guelph man in connection to an incident of anti-Semitic graffiti that had occurred at the Chabad of Guelph pop-up on Gordon on June 19. The man was charged with mischief related to religious property.
