There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
At 12:25 pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the plaza near Eramosa and Stevenson where a 14-year-old had been sprayed in the face with a noxious substance. He was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment, and officers observed possible pepper spray residue in the parking lot. A 31-year-old Guelph man was arrest for assault and uttering threats at Guelph General Hospital Monday morning when a physical altercation took place as three employees who were dealing with an escalated patient. The man also uttered a death threat against the employees.
A 31-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose last Friday night after police were called to the area of Woolwich and Marilyn after a witness reported a man pointing a black handgun at homes in the area. A replica firearm was recovered.
Break-Ins
At approximately 12:15 am Tuesday, three men in a white four-door vehicle arrived at a business near Grange and Starwood. They used a rock to smash the front door and gain entry to the business before fleeing with an undetermined amount of product. The break-in was discovered by a cleaner who arrived at 8 am the next morning and called police. A 43-year-old Guelph man was charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling and two counts of breaching a probation order on Tuesday after he entered a home near Speedvale and Delhi, and woke a woman sleeping in the bedroom. When he was located by officers, the man said he was looking for a former friend he hasn’t seen in years.
A 32-year-old Guelph man was charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling, mischief under $5,000 and four counts of possessing a weapon contrary to an order last Friday after he was found inside an apartment unit that was supposed to be vacant in Speedvale West. While collecting the man’s belongings, officers recovered an imitation rifle. Investigation revealed he is subject to four weapons prohibitions.
Drugs
A 35-year-old Guelph woman was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon after they were observed using drugs in public Wednesday morning near Woolwich and Speedvale. During a search, officers located eight individual packages of suspected fentanyl as well as a spring-assisted knife and pepper spray.
Fraud
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre is raising awareness of an extortion fraud involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officials from China and Hong Kong. In this scheme, victims are contacted by phone and falsely accused of being involved in criminal activity. Victims are pressured to cooperate with a supposed “investigation” and may be instructed to travel or transfer funds under urgent and threatening circumstances and in some cases, victims are directed to convert money into gold or other high-value assets and surrender them to individuals posing as officers of the law such as anti-corruption officials. These tactics are designed to create fear, urgency and compliance.
A Guelph woman contacted police on Tuesday to report that she lost $14,000 in a cryptocurrency scam. She said she had clicked on an ad on social media which purported to represent an investment opportunity promoted by a popular YouTube content creator. The victim paid $250 to join the investment, then transferred various amounts based on advice from supposed company representatives. At one point she spoke to someone she believed was the YouTube star and later transferred $5,000 to a cryptocurrency wallet address he provided.
On Friday a 24-year-old Brampton man was arrested for seven counts of fraud under $5,000 for an incident in February, where a man went to four businesses in a one-hour period, selected cases of baby formula valued at $97 each, but scanned an item valued at less than $1. The loss to the businesses was nearly $1,000.

Human Trafficking/IPV
The Human Trafficking Unit has charged two Toronto men in an ongoing human trafficking investigation for engaging in the sexual exploitation and trafficking of two youths from Guelph. The alleged offences are reported to have occurred between September 2025 and February 2026 and involved trafficking the youths in multiple cities across southwestern Ontario. The accused allegedly targeted the victims through the online social media platform Snapchat.
Arrested are 26-year-old Jameel Dosu (also known as “Jay” and “DJFamousJay”) and 29-year-old Brian Allard (also known as “King”). They face a variety of charges including trafficking a person under 18, material benefit from trafficking, material benefit from sexual services of a person under 18, procuring, sexual interference, and sexual assault on a victim under 16.

A 60-year-old man on two counts of luring following a search warrant on Wednesday after an investigation between late March and early May where an officer chatted with an adult male posing as a 13-year-old girl who engaged them in sexually-explicit conversations, requested nude photos and proposed meeting at a hotel. Several devices were seized for further examination.
Theft (Auto)
A 41-year-old Guelph man was charged with two counts of motor vehicle theft, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and 36 counts of driving while prohibited for the theft of a pick-up and dump trailer last month. He was located outside Guelph driving a vehicle with a stolen licence plate, and he’s bound by 18 different driving prohibitions.
Traffic
A 33-year-old Kitchener man was charged with five counts of breaching bail conditions, failing to attend court and driving while suspended after a traffic stop Monday afternoon. Officer observed a man driving with a woman and knew there was a warrant out for him. The man is on two different bail orders with conditions including house arrest and not having contact with his female passenger, and he’s also a suspended driver.
Other Notes
On Monday, a Guelph man reported that he had been communicating with someone he believed was a female through a social media app and during the lengthy conversation he sent intimate images of himself. He then began receiving messages threatening to release the photos if he did not pay $500 and the man eventually sent $150 via online gift cards before telling the suspect he would not pay more and ended communication.
A 30-year-old Guelph man was charged with committing an indecent act, possessing a controlled substance and breaching a probation order on Thursday evening after a resident near Gordon and Nottingham saw someone standing outside his kitchen window masturbating. A search revealed a small amount of suspected meth on the suspect.
