The City of Guelph, and it’s various partners and agencies, put out a lot of information on a weekly basis, and while it all ends up on the City’s website somewhere, wouldn’t it be easier to just scroll through it all on one easy-to-read article on Guelph Politico here…?
Guelph Water Use Now at Level 2 Red
Due to the hot and dry weather we’ve been experiencing for the last several weeks, the City of Guelph’s Outside Water Use Program is moving from level 1 yellow to level 2 red. At level 2 red, lawn watering and car washing are not allowed. Watering ornamental gardens is restricted to 7-9 m and 7-9 pm on alternating calendar dates by address – odd numbered houses can water on odd numbered dates, and even numbered houses on even dates. Watering vegetable gardens, trees and shrubs is still allowed anytime. Learn more about the program here.
No Air Conditioning at Main Library
Air conditioning at the main library downtown has been down since Wednesday. While the Library remains open, they’re asking members of the public looking to cool off to consider alternative library locations for cooling centres or to find another location using the Community Hot Weather Response list.

Donate Old Laptops and Tablets to Circular Computer Project
The Circular Computer Project through the Guelph Tool Library is accepting all types of laptops and tablets, six years old or less, to be upgraded and given away or recycled through the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA). The ERA is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to reducing unnecessary electronic waste by recycling and repurposing used electronics. Based in Toronto, they work with local companies to repurpose used electronics and IT equipment in a safe and secure manner.
“The Guelph Tool Library is pleased to be able to expand our Circular Computer Project with this new partnership with the Electronic Recycling Association,” said transitional director of the GTL in a statement. “Do you have a Blackberry Surface stored away? A laptop running Windows 95? We want it. All devices will be examined to see if they can be used in our program, or recycled through our partnership with ERA.”
