A shareholder meeting? In February? Has the world gone topsy-turvy?! Not really. While it’s true that the shareholder meeting for both Guelph Municipal Holdings Inc. and Guelph Junction Railway is in June, there’s a kind of small but important piece that city council needs to do as the shareholder for both these organisations before they close out the fiscal year. Let’s get into it!
NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday February 7. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.
NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.
Guelph Municipal Holdings Inc. Appointment of Directors – In addition to being the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Guelph, the person occupying that office is also the director, board chair and CEO of GMHI. Scott Stewart retired from the role last summer, and Tara Baker was hired last fall, and in-between Deputy CAO Jayne Holmes filled the position. So there were three different directors in one year, which isn’t ideal since the GHMI has only one director… until now! Council, as the shareholder of GHMI will be asked to appoint two additional directors, Deputy CAOs Holmes and Trevor Lee to a three year term. Baker, as CEO, will remain the only employee of GMHI.
SEE THE COMPLETE AGENDA ON THE CITY OF GUELPH WEBSITE HERE.
Guelph Junction Railway Limited Appointment of Directors – It’s kind of the same thing here just with Guelph Junction Railway but with a two-person board now with Baker and Lee. There’s also an additional appointment here of Jennifer Charles to the position Corporate Secretary / Legal.
