This month’s Transit Advisory Committee Meeting will be on the light side, but there might be some interesting developments that might come up in the realm of member feedback or general transit updates. In terms of the one new item, there’s a matter of accessibility and integrating that into the current transit fare system. Mostly though, if you’re just a fan of transit news, this is your monthly appointment.
NOTE #1: This meeting takes place at 5:30 pm in Committee Room A at City Hall. You can also find a link to attend the meeting virtually on the meeting agenda at the City’s website. (See below.)
NOTE #2: For alternate meeting formats please contact judi.prigione [at] guelph.ca or call 519-822-1260 ext. 3863.
CNIB and PAL Card Holders Potentially Transitioning Over to the OYW Farecard: Feedback Requested – There’s no formal report published with the agenda, but we can make some inferences about what this is about. The Canadian National Institute for the Blind has a card that can be used “as proof of disability for some government programs and tax benefits” for things like transit passes. Meanwhile, the City of Guelph has the PAL program, which is “available to people with a disability that require assistance to attend City of Guelph recreation programs and to ride GuelphTransit conventional and mobility services.” Evidentially, both are going to be incorporate into the On Your Way card, but for details you’ll have to wait for the meeting.
TAC Members’ Feedback – This the monthly opportunity for members of the committee to ask questions about current service issues. There’s nothing on the agenda yet.
General Transit Update, including Electric Buses – Management staff will be on-hand to offer updates on any pressing transit business that’s not been covered in any of the above topics and categories, and that includes the ongoing roll out of the new electric buses.
