The City of Guelph, and it’s various partners and agencies, put out a lot of information on a weekly basis, and while it all ends up on the City’s website somewhere, wouldn’t it be easier to just scroll through it all on one easy-to-read article on Guelph Politico here…?

CMHA Marks World Suicide Prevention Month
The Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington is marking September as World Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, with September 10th being World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day. This year’s theme, #StartTheConversation, is meant to help everyone understand how important it is to talk about suicide to promote conversation, reach out and support one another in a different way.
“To make this change, we need to work towards changing the narrative within the whole system, as talking about prevention is postvention. It’s about moving away from keeping quiet and feeling ashamed, to creating a culture where people can talk openly, understand each other, and offer support,” reads a post on the CMHA website.
As part of World Suicide Prevention Day, CMHA will be at the Kitchener Public Library’s Central Branch at 85 Queen Street North on Tuesday, September 10 from 4:30 to 7 pm. There is also a free Zoom talk on September 1o from the Canadian Suicide Prevention Council from 10:30 to 11:30 am featuring Dr. Mark Sinyor, who will speak about: “Changing the Narrative: How we can Reshape Public Discourse about Suicide to Save Lives.” For help anytime, you can call the Suicide Crisis Helpline at 9-8-8.
