Guelph Police Want You To Register Your Camera

The Guelph Police Service is launching Security Cameras Assisting Neighbours in Guelph, or SCANinGuelph program. It’s a security camera registry that allows the owners of commercial and residential properties to register the location or locations of their surveillance cameras and could thus give officers access to the recordings on a case-by-case basis. According to Police, so far 150 people have signed up.

Important note: Registering a camera does not give police access to it or the opportunity to monitor it. Rather, it simply identifies the location of a camera. To register for SCANinGuelph fill out a registration form on the Police’s website indicating the location of all camera along with your contact information. This information will be uploaded to an internal police database allowing officers conducting investigations to know the locations of cameras in a given area.
