MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for April 29, 2024

No April foolishness here because this is the end of the month, not the beginning! As usual, the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors will gather in the public meeting room at the central building to talk about all manner of library oversight business from the new building to recognizing the people helping to support the construction of that building. Also, what’s the new library’s biggest booster group up to? Let’s preview!

NOTE #1: This meeting will take place in Programming Room at the Main Library on Norfolk Street, but you can also watch it on video via Cisco Webex. (Find the link on the library board’s webpage.)

NOTE #2: The meeting begins at 6 pm and is expected to wrap up around 8 pm.

NOTE #3: The Library does not make the complete agenda with reports available to the public, only the point form agenda.

Consent Agenda – To begin with, there’s the usual slate of reports including the (acting) CEO’s report, the service utilization and capacity scorecards, the operating variance, and the updated milestones for the construction of the new main library building.

Presentations & Reports – There are four topics under this main chunk of the meeting. First, an update about the annual Friends of the Guelph Public Library book sale, which at last we heard needed a new space for this year’s sale. There will also be the annual review of the library’s human resources, and a motion about allocating funds to the capital budget about designing a donor recognition system for the new library. Plus, there will be an updated about the goings on of the board’s various committees.

CLOSED MEETING:

The board will meet in closed on one item under the topic of “labour relations or employee negotiations.”
