Ford Government Loses Appeal on Student Choice Initiative

Chalk up another loss in court for the Premier Doug Ford and the Government of Ontario as the Ontario Court of Appeal has ruled that a lower court was right to overturn the Student Choice Initiative. Although there is some disagreement between the courts about the rationale, the Court of Appeal affirmed that the lower court was right on the basic fact: the Student Choice Initiative is no good. Provincial Court Hears Government Appeal of Student Choice Decision

Just because there’s a pandemic to worry about, it doesn’t mean that the Government of Ontario can’t multitask with some old priorities. On Friday, the Ontario Court of Appeal heard the government’s case about why they needed to overturn a lower court’s ruling about the Student Choice Initiative, a policy that separated services at post-secondary schools into essential and non-essential categories.
