There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 40-year-old male was arrested on weapons charges early Sunday following an altercation at a downtown bar when the individual was asked to leave the business. Once outside, he pulled out a weapon and uttered threats to staff from the establishment and then proceeded to flee the scene. The accused is also currently prohibited from possessing weapons under previous orders.
Break-Ins
Police are investigating a break and enter at a residential unit in the area of Woodlawn and Woolwich on Wednesday morning around 11 am. There appears to be five suspects involved, one man and four woman, who were seen leaving the scene travelling westbound on Woodlawn in a white Dodge Caravan. Fraud
Several local businesses have reported in the last several days that they’ve received counterfeit bills being used for purchases in three separate incidents. The bills were in $50 and $100 denominations. To report counterfeit money, businesses can call the non-emergency line 519-824-1212

Human Trafficking/IPV
A 22-year-old Toronto man was charged with sexual interference, sexual assault, luring a person under 16, communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services from a person under 18, possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and various firearm related offences on Tuesday. The arrest follows an investigation by the Human Trafficking Unit into three young women from Guelph, aged 13 and 14, who were lured to a man’s residence in Toronto on Snapchat where they were paid for sexual services.
Impaired Driving
A 54-year-old male driver was arrested early last Saturday after being pulled over for failing to stop at a red light. During the traffic stop, the accused registered a fail on the test.
A 23-year-old man was arrested after registering a fail on a roadside test after midnight on Sunday after getting pulled over in a RIDE stop.
Traffic
A 29-year-old driver was pulled over for speeding on Tuesday evening for doing 106 kilometres per hour in a posted 60 zone, and when stopped, the driver could not produce his licence. The driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for 14 days.
Early Friday morning, a 38-year-old woman was arrested after she was clocked going 95 kilometres per hour in a posted 50 zone.
A 23-year-old man was caught driving 81 kilometres per hour in a posted 40 safety zone on Saturday afternoon.
Other Notes
Shortly before 8 am on Wednesday there was a fire at a business on Silvercreek Parkway. There were no injuries and no one was inside the business when first responders arrived. The investigation is ongoing.
Guelph Police remind you to *not* bring weapons to police headquarters unless under the direction of officers. There were two incidents on Tuesday where members of the public came into the station looking for assistance with the safe destruction of weapons they no longer needed. Residents who would like to safely dispose of unwanted firearms may contact the communications unit at 519-824-1212 to arrange for safe officer-led disposal.
