There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 24-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm after responding to a call an apartment near Wellington and Gordon Thursday. During the investigation officers located a bag outside the building which contained a Derya Arms .22-calibre rifle with a loaded extended magazine. (See above.)
A 24-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possessing a weapon contrary to an order and three counts of breaching probation after a witness downtown last Saturday afternoon reported seeing the man with the gun in his hands. A search revealed a loaded black pellet gun in his pocket, as well as a spring-assisted knife.
A 31-year-old Guelph man was provided advice on use of the item in public after a separate incident last Saturday evening. Police were called to the transit terminal on Carden after witnesses reported seeing a man holding a possible firearm. The man was located sitting at the back of a bus holding a large cigarette lighter styled to resemble a firearm.
Break-Ins
Last Friday afternoon police were called to a home near Kortright and Ironwood where a woman said she has been watching the house while her parents are away and arrived Friday to find a rear patio door smashed. Several rooms had been ransacked but it is not known what if anything was stolen. Drugs
A 37-year-old Guelph man and 29-year-old Guelph woman were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after police executed a search warrant Friday morning on Willow Road. Two people were found inside a locked bedroom, where officers also located $10,000 worth of cocaine, several digital scales, nearly $2,000 in cash and a collapsible baton. The man was also charged with possessing proceeds of crime and three counts of breaching a release order.
Human Trafficking/IPV
Guelph Police laid 40 City of Guelph by-law charges against six holistic spa locations within the community after a human trafficking investigation that began in May 2025. The project was launched in response to a noticeable increase in activity on online platforms advertising sexual services in these establishments. The focus of this initiative was to ensure that business operators and owners were complying with all applicable municipal by-law requirements, and bylaw enforcement identified a substantial number of bylaw infractions within several establishments.
Impaired Driving
A 52-year-old Guelph woman was charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, assault police, resisting arrest and failing to stop after an accident last Saturday afternoon. Police were informed of a possible impaired driver who struck another vehicle in the parking lot of a Silvercreek Parkway North business, and a witness spoke to the driver and believed she was impaired but the woman fled before police arrived. When police found her at a nearby apartment, she shoved the officer in the chest and tried to flee.
A 45-year-old Guelph woman was arrested last Friday evening after several reports of a vehicle being driven erratically on Suffolk Street West.
A 33-year-old Guelph man was arrested last Saturday morning after a vehicle stopped at a red light in the west end was struck from behind. No injuries were reported.
An 85-year-old Guelph man was arrested last Saturday evening after police received a driving complaint in the west end
A 48-year-old Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving by a drug Sunday evening after he was found passed out in a running vehicle in the driveway of a Woolwich Street business.
Theft
A woman’s purse was stolen from her vehicle earlier in the parking lot on Stone Road after a couple were approached by a female suspect asking for help finding a medical office. While the two women were speaking, a male suspect who was with the female, reached into the vehicle and stole the purse from the backseat. About $40,000 worth of copper cables was taken from a business in the area of Woodlawn and the Hanlon. The incident occurred during the overnight hours and was discovered by an employee when they arrived at work Wednesday morning. Just after 1 am on Wednesday, police were called to a home near Victoria and Summerfield when the owners returned from a week-long trip to find the front door of the home had been damaged. Drawers throughout the house had been opened and ransacked and a large quantity of gold jewelry was missing. Security cameras caught a masked suspect looking in windows before gaining entry to the house approximately 9 pm on Saturday. He was described as having an average build and wearing grey clothes and a face covering. Theft (Auto)
Three Honda CR-Vs were reported stolen from the south end last weekend, including two from the same parking lot. At approximately 8:35 am last Saturday, a resident near Clair and Dallan reported his white 2024 CR-V had been stolen overnight from the parking lot of his condo building, and one hour later, an Etobicoke man reported his grey 2025 CR-V had been stolen overnight from the same parking lot. A credit card which had been left inside the vehicle was later used at an LCBO in Toronto. On Saturday afternoon, a resident near Victoria and Frederick reported that his navy blue 2025 CR-V had been stolen from the parking lot of his condo building. if you have any information call the Guelph Police Service at 519-824-1212.
On Monday afternoon, a resident of Waterloo Avenue reported that his white 2026 CR-V Hybrid was not working properly. He took it to a dealership where he learned there was damage to the vehicle’s front wiring harness, as well the horns and acoustic alerting system. On Tuesday, a 26-year-old Kitchener woman was arrested for four counts of possessing stolen property over $5,000 in connection to a spree of car thefts in the area last December. This the fourth person arrested in connection with these crimes.
On Monday, a 12-year-old Guelph boy was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle after he was brought to police headquarters with his parent. Last month, a Dodge Caravan was stolen from the east end after the van was involved in a hit and run collision with another stolen vehicle in a different jurisdiction. Damage was estimated at more than $10,000. The suspect was a friend of the victim’s son it seems.
Traffic
A bus driver was charged with careless driving after a collision Tuesday night between a GO bus and an SUV at Woodlawn and the Hanlon. After the collision, the bus coming to rest in a ditch. A passenger in the SUV sustained minor injuries and was assessed on scene by paramedics, but no injuries were reported to anyone on the bus.
A 34-year-old Guelph man was charged with driving while impaired after a police patrol near Speedvale and Delhi were alerted to a prohibited driver by the automated licence plate reader. The driver was prohibited as a result of an impaired driving conviction.
