There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 31-year-old Guelph man was charged with three counts of assault, uttering threats and breaching a probation order after three security officers were assaulted in Guelph General Hospital. A patient that had been discharged but refused to leave. He uttered a threat and lunged at the three officers when a physical struggle ensued, during which one officer was punched in the face and poked in the eye before the man was restrained.
A 70-year-old Guelph man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of possessing a weapon contrary to an order and breach of probation last Friday morning. Officers patrolling downtown located a man known to be wanted for missing a court date earlier and during a search officers located three spring-assisted knives in his pockets.
A 38-year-old Guelph man was charged with obstruct police, driving while suspended, assault, dangerous driving, two counts each of break and enter and wearing a disguise and multiple counts of breaching a release order. for a series of different incidents dating back to March 2025. Investigation revealed the man was also wanted on five different warrants from other police services, including a Canada-wide warrant from British Columbia for property and driving offences.
Break-Ins
Last Friday at 4:25 pm, police were called to an address near Inverness and Glenbrook where the owner said he had been gone for approximately 90 minutes and came home to find his front door had been kicked in. Property including a Nikon camera and a watch was stolen. A witness observed a suspicious man parking his car and walking towards the victim’s residence. He’s described as white, 5’10” with a thin build and wearing a blue coat over a grey hoodie, and he was driving a dark-coloured hatchback. At approximately 3:35 am last Saturday morning, police were called to a business near Victoria and York and found the glass door smashed. Security video showed two men entering the business and placing items into a large, wheeled bag. Police recovered the bag containing stolen items abandoned in deep snow nearby. The first man was wearing a black ski jacket with the hood up, grey cargo pants, a black balaclava and running shoes. The second was wearing a dark winter jacket and a light-coloured hoodie with the hood up. A 40-year-old Guelph man and 36-year-old Guelph man are each facing several counts of break and enter and wearing a disguise while committing an offence after officers executed a search warrant at an address near Victoria and York. The Break Enter Auto Theft Unit started an investigation after five break-ins at Guelph businesses between January 17 and 24. Products valued at more than $20,000 were stolen.
On Tuesday, a 36-year-old Hamilton man was returned to Guelph and arrested for two counts each of break and enter, disguise with intent and possessing break-in tools. The arrest is in connection to a series of jewellery store break-ins in Guelph in November and December. Four men were arrested by Hamilton Police on December 11 for the crimes.
A 42-year-old Guelph man was charged with break and enter and two counts of breaching a probation order on Monday evening after some broke into a vacant home near Victoria and Dakota. The suspect was known to the homeowner.
Fraud
On Thursday a 21-year-old Brampton man was arrested for extortion and criminal harassment after harassing his former employer including incidents were he followed her home, showed up at the business and posting negative reviews online. The complainant said she has given the man much more than he claimed he was owed but it did not stop his harassing behaviour.

Impaired Driving
A 37-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited on Tuesday evening after a woman reported her car was rear-ended at Eramosa and Delhi and she was concerned that the other driver was impaired. It turned out that the other driver had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. and that he was required to have an ignition interlock on his vehicle as a result of a previous impaired driving conviction.
A 23-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving after an officer looking for someone involved in a stunt driving incident observed a man turning into a parking lot at Paisley and Elmira. The man had an odour of alcohol on his breath and watery eyes, and tests showed that he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 21-year-old Milton man was charged with impaired driving after a traffic stop downtown early last Saturday morning.
Theft
On Thursday morning, staff of a business near Victoria and Elizabeth reported that one of their vans was entered overnight. Tools, plumbing equipment and copper valued at more than $6,000 were stolen. On Monday morning, the manager of a business near Edinburgh and Willow arrived at work to find the heating was not working. A technician found extensive damage had been done to two of three rooftop units. It appeared copper wire valued at less than $100 had been cut and removed from one of the units, but the technician estimated the damage to each unit at $12,000 to $18,000. On Monday afternoon, an employee of a business near Regal and Curtis reported that their heating unit had been damaged sometime over the weekend. It is not known whether any theft occurred there. Theft (Auto)
On Thursday morning, a resident near Grange and Raspberry reported that just after 3 am on Wednesday a suspect was able to enter their vehicle but wasn’t able to start it. Security video showed the suspects arriving in a black sedan. On Wednesday morning, a resident of Downey Road reported finding her 2025 Lincoln Navigator damaged. Security video revealed two men arrived in a black sedan – believed to be an Audi – at approximately 2:45 am and damaged the Lincoln while attempting to enter it. This is after two people arriving in what appears to be the same black sedan tried to steal it the night before. Also Wednesday, a resident near Summerfield and Colonial reported his black 2024 GMC Sierra pickup had been stolen from his driveway overnight. On Tuesday morning, a resident near Clairfields and Gibbs reported that someone tried to enter his 2023 Ford F-350. Security video showed a man approaching the truck just after 4 am and trying unsuccessfully to gain entry. The video also showed a small black car leaving the scene. Also on Tuesday morning, a resident on Downey reported she found the door ajar on her 2025 Lincoln Navigator. Security footage showed a black car parking in the neighbour’s driveway and a passenger from the car entering the Lincoln. He was able to start the vehicle but could not drive it due to a security feature the owner had installed. On Monday morning, a resident near Gordon and Lowes reported that her white 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon had been stolen from the parking lot. It’s a four-door with matching white roof, oversized wheels, a custom grille and wind deflectors on the side windows. Just before 1 pm on last Saturday, a Pickering woman called police to report her white 2025 Jeep Wrangler had been stolen overnight from a parking lot near Bagot and London. Then, at 3:40 pm, a Guelph man reported his grey 2014 BMW 435 had been stolen from the parking lot of his building near Clair and Beaver Meadow sometime since 8:30 pm the night before Friday. Then, at 7:30 am on Sunday, a Guelph woman reported her black 2024 Honda CRV missing from the parking lot of her building near Gordon and Harts Lane. Other Notes
On Thursday, a woman reported finding a large amount of meat in Exhibition Park near the intersection of London and Kathleen. The complainant said the meat was located close to garbage cans where dog walkers typically dispose of pet waste. It is not known who placed the meat in the park or their intention.
