There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
On Thursday afternoon, a 64-year-old Guelph man was arrested for assault with a weapon for a May 9 incident near Eramosa and Speedvale where one roommate accused the other of stealing, and then struck him in the head with a frying pan.
A 15-year-old Guelph boy was charged with two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and uttering threats after a video was taken last week depicting a student at a south end school where a gold-handled knife was taken from a backpack and aggressively walking towards another student. A similar incident happened the next day.
In January 2025, the Guelph Police Service received a public complaint following an interaction between a citizen and an on-duty Guelph Police Service officer which had occurred on January 13. As a result of an investigation conducted by Halton Regional Police Service, a 13-year member of the Guelph Police Service has been charged with assault. The officer has been reassigned to administrative duties. The first court appearance date is June 13 at 9 am. The Professional Standards will also be conducting an investigation of the circumstances.
Break-Ins
On Monday morning, police were called to a business near Eramosa and Stevenson after an employee arrived and noticed damage to a rear door. He went inside and found the cash register missing and a computer monitor smashed on the floor. Security video showed the suspect gaining entry through the rear door approximately 11:35 p.m. Sunday night. He was described as wearing a black coat with the hood up, black and white baseball cap, blue pants and black shoes. On Tuesday afternoon, a 36-year-old Guelph man was located downtown and arrested for eight counts of break and enter, possessing stolen property, possessing identity documents. and more than two dozen counts of breaching court orders for breaking into eight local businesses resulting in approximately $4,000 in thefts and thousands of dollars in damage. A 38-year-old Guelph woman was arrested Thursday on those same charges as well as two counts of break and enter.
A 36-year-old Guelph man was charged with eight counts of break and enter, one count each of mischief under $5,000 and possessing break and enter tools and more than two dozen counts of breaching court orders for a series of eight break-ins from March through to last weekend. The break-ins resulted in approximately $4,000 in thefts and thousands of dollars in damage.
Drugs
A 36-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a weapon while prohibited and breaching a probation order after a man banned from Stone Road Mall was taken into custody in the mall. During a search of the man’s property, officers located quantities of suspected crystal meth and Hydromorphone with a total value of nearly $4,000. They also located a digital scale with apparent drug contamination, $770 in cash and a can of bear spray.
A 42-year-old Guelph woman was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and possessing a controlled substance on Monday morning after an officer on patrol downtown spotted a woman known to be wanted for failing to comply with an undertaking by missing her fingerprinting appointment.
A 23-year-old Mississauga man was charged with possessing a controlled substance and nearly a dozen counts related to theft and fraud. On Sunday afternoon, a police received a call about a Mercedes SUV in the parking lot of a Woodlawn West business with fake licence plates attached. While observing the car, police man leave the store with a cart full of merchandise. Investigation revealed he had not paid for the items in his cart, and had several credit cards and identification cards in his wallet in various names. Officers also seized a small amount of suspected heroin.
Fraud
A Guelph woman called police Wednesday to report her father, who is in his 70s, clicked on a Facebook link in January, which led him to a supposed investment site and since then, he transferred $32,000 to various cryptocurrency accounts. Residents should be very weary when dealing with anyone not personally known to them, including any online communication. Do not click on links sent by unknown senders or provide any personal information. Take steps to verify the other party’s identity.
A 32-year-old Guelph woman was charged with fraud over $5,000 and uttering a forged document after cheques were deposited in a secure night deposit box to be applied to a business account earlier this month. Two days later, $57,000 from the account was used to make a purchase, and the suspect was arrested on Wednesday after she tried to withdraw more money.

Impaired Driving
A 30-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and careless driving last Saturday night after a Dodge Challenger struck a hydro pole on Green Street. The drive had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Theft
At approximately 3:20 am on Friday, police were called to the area of Ambrous and MacAlister where a grey 2024 Tundra was stolen. The owner tracked the vehicle with GPS to a location in Puslinch. When officers attended they found hockey equipment, which had been in the bed of the truck, as well as a circuit board believed to be the GPS unit. Police are investigating after a Toyota Tundra pickup was stolen from a residence near Woodland Glen and Old Colony on Tuesday at 4 am. Thanks to the GPS, officers found the unoccupied truck, still running, on the curb against a hydro pole at Downey and Ptarmigan. Security video of the theft revealed three suspects, two of whom appeared to be males wearing hoods. One had a beard and the other was wearing a mask. The suspects arrived in a black crossover SUV in which it is believed all three fled following the collision. Officers were called Saturday to an address on West Acres Drive Saturday morning where someone tried to steal a car. When the owner entered the vehicle, he found that the steering column had been severely damaged, with wires exposed and broken plastic pieces inside and outside the car. Several items not belonging to the owner were found inside the car. Traffic
On April 26 just before 2:30 am, police were called to the intersection of Wellington and Neeve and found the victim sitting on the ground. Investigation revealed he had been crossing within the crosswalk when he was hit by a car, causing him to become airborne before landing on the road. The suspect was described as a white man, 18 to 23, 5’8” to 5’9” with a thin build, blonde or light brown hair which was shorter on the sides and curly on top and wearing a light-coloured t-shirt and shorts. He was driving an older red compact car, possibly a Toyota or Nissan. Police would also like to speak to the two witnesses who assisted the victim but left the area before police arrived. At approximately 3:35 pm last Friday police were called to the intersection of Gordon and Clair where the complainant said he was waiting at the intersection when his car was hit from behind. He took a photo of the other vehicle and motioned for the driver to follow him into a parking lot, however the other man drove around him and fled the scene. An 18-year-old Guelph man is charged with failing to remain at a collision and careless driving.

Approximately 9:20 p.m. May 5, emergency services were called for a large brush fire in the area of Pacific Place and Municipal Street, and it’s believed the two men in the images below might have relevant information about the fire. A 50-year-old Guelph man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for six counts of mischief – interfering with the lawful enjoyment of property as well as breaching a probation order for multiple occasions earlier this month where the same nude man was using public recreational spaces.
