There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 27-year-old Guelph man was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery and breaking into a residence to commit an indictable offence on Thursday morning after an incident in a house near downtown. The involved men are known to each other and this was a targeted incident.
Break-Ins
Just after 7:30 pm on Wednesday, police were called to a home near Clairfields and Beaver Meadow after the owners returned home and discovered a rear patio window had been smashed and the home ransacked. It is believed that the break-in occurred in the late afternoon or early evening, but nothing was reported stolen. Officers responded Monday to a business near Silvercreek and Campbell. On Sunday, suspects severely damaged a fence and gate to gain access to fenced compound at Silvercreek and Campbell. They then broke a window to enter the business and stole approximately $1,200 in electronic products. A 37-year-old Guelph man was charged with three counts of break and enter, theft under $5,000, two counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of breaching a probation order on Wednesday for three break and enters the night before along Woodlawn Road. During a search, quantities of suspected crystal meth and fentanyl were found, as well as cash. Approximately $10,000 in damage was done to one of the windows.
A 43-year-old Guelph woman was charged with three counts of break and enter, breaching probation and failing to attend court on Tuesday morning after repeated break-ins at a Waterloo Avenue apartment.
On Wednesday, a 36-year-old Guelph man was located downtown and arrested for break and enter and theft under $5,000 for a break-in at the parking garage of an apartment building near Woolwich and Eramosa. Police are still looking for the second involved male.
Drugs
A 29-year-old Guelph man was charged with two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime over $5,000, possessing counterfeit currency and several firearms offences on Thursday morning. A search warrant was executed at a home near Huron and Ferguson, and a man there was found in bed with a loaded handgun. Police recovered approximately $59,000 worth of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, two firearms with over-capacity magazines, loose ammunition, nearly $16,000 in cash and four counterfeit bills. Impaired Driving
A 27-year-old Guelph man was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, failure to stop at a red light, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand last Saturday after a police patrol say a vehicle speed through a red light at Edinburgh and Kortright.
Theft
Police are investigating after $17,810 worth of phones and smart watches were stolen from a business at Stone Road Mall after it closed Tuesday night. Surveillance video showed two men walking around the mall, entering a business and removing the product by prying open a draw with a crowbar, which was left behind. The first suspect was described as having brown skin and a heavy build with short black hair and facial hair. He was wearing a red puffy jacket, black shirt, black pants and black shoes. The second also had brown skin, slim build with short black hair and facial hair. He was wearing a blue puffy jacket, black pants and red Nike shoes. At approximately 2:20 pm on Tuesday, a man entered a business on Stone Road West, and made off with 19 different skin care items with a value of $1,340. The suspect was described as approximately 30 years of age, 5’9” with a medium build and tanned or light brown skin and a black goatee. He was wearing a knee-length dark green puffy jacket with white lining in the hood, grey t-shirt, black jogging pants, black and white Nike sneakers and a black and yellow trucker-style baseball cap. Just before 1 pm on Monday, a woman was placing items in her car at Willow West Mall when a small black car stopped close to her. A child around 12 years of age lowered the window and asked for directions to a business. As a thank you, the child leaned out the window and gave the victim a hug, removing a gold necklace and replace it with a fake. The girl was described as having brown skin. The vehicle was a small black car or SUV driven by a brown-skinned male approximately 30 years of age with a heavy build, black hair and facial hair. Approximately $1,774 in perfume was stolen last Thursday from a store on Eramosa Road. Just after 6:50 pm, two men entered, and while one distracted the store employee, the second began filling a bag and his jacket with multiple fragrance sets. The first male was described as; 5’11”, medium build, short black hair and goatee, approximately 27 years old, wearing a grey t-shirt, grey hoodie, and sweatpants, with a black puffer jacket and black shoes. The second male is described as; 6’, medium build, black buzzed hair, trimmed beard, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black jacket, mustard colour pants and black shoes. On Tuesday, a 40-year-old Burlington man was arrested for possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and six counts of driving while prohibited after his DNA matched a stolen Nissan Pathfinder found in a south-end parking lot this past January.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested for robbery Tuesday after stealing a man’s jacket near Speedvale and Stevenson.
A 30-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon for 26 criminal charges including theft under $5,000, eight counts of operation of a conveyance while prohibited, 10 counts of breach probation, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of schedule 1 drugs, two counts of drive while suspended, and operation while impaired. The arrest was made after a crime spree last Thursday including a gas and go incident and driving a stolen vehicle while acting erratically.
Traffic
A 33-year-old Guelph man was charged with driving while prohibited and driving while suspended on Tuesday evening after being spotted by police on patrol near Elmira and Flaherty.
Other Notes
On Thursday, a 16-year-old Guelph girl was arrested for possessing child pornography and two counts each of distributing child pornography and distributing intimate images without consent. In November, she sent nude photos of her ex-boyfriend to his parents after they broke up.
