There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 17-year-old male was located at his home and arrested for assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and administering a noxious substance on Thursday. That morning, a 17-year-old teen was sprayed in the face with a substance similar to pepper spray while waiting in a car outside a south end school. A teacher that came to the student’s aid experienced symptoms from secondary exposure too.
A 44-year-old Guelph man was arrested for two counts of assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering death threats on Wednesday for a July 30 incident where a hatchet was thrown at another man. The victim was not physically injured.
A 29-year-old Guelph man is charged with three counts of assault for a incident Tuesday evening at a business on Stone Road where a man was sitting outside when he was approached by another male, who threw a cup of water on the victim and punched him in the mouth. Police are also investigating an incident from Monday night where the same suspect approached and assaulted the first victim without provocation.
A 15-year-old Guelph girl was charged with assault police and public intoxication after police were called for a disturbance in the area of Metcalfe and Emma Tuesday evening. After getting arrested for intoxication, she was taken to the police station where she bit the officer’s hand, leaving a visible bite mark after he tried to stop her from banging her head against the wall.
A 35-year-old Guelph woman was charged with mischief under $5,000, assault police and failing to comply with a release order after a disturbance call on Ontario Street Sunday night. A woman was at the residence despite a condition not be there, and smashed a window while she was on the premises. When police found her a short while late, she was confrontational and spat on the officer.
A 24-year-old Guelph woman was charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, forcible confinement and breaching probation after a disturbance early Sunday at a Westwood Road apartment building. The caller reported her daughter’s friend was armed with a knife and had held it to the daughter’s throat before they were able to push her out of the apartment.
Break-Ins
Three student lockers at Conestoga College were broken into earlier this month at the Speedvale campus of Conestoga Collage. Video surveillance showed a man entering the college just after 1 pm last Thursday and gaining access to the lockers using small bolt cutters. A welding kit and steel-toed boots were stolen. The suspect was described as a white wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, a black hat and sunglasses and carrying a beige and brown backpack. At approximately 3:45 am on Sunday police were called to a residence near College and Gordon, a university student reported that she was hanging out with friends in another room and when she was preparing to go to bed she opened her bedroom door and saw a male, who quickly pushed the door closed and locked it. A car with several men was waiting outside, but they fled when confronted by the victim’s roommates. Nothing was noted to be missing, but her property was disturbed and a damaged screen window was located outside. A 38-year-old Guelph woman was charged with break and enter, motor vehicle theft, wearing a disguise while committing a crime, possessing stolen property over $5,000 and two counts of breaching probation. On Tuesday morning, a resident near Clair and Gosling report that a woman had tried to enter his home before going next door and entering that house. She stole the vehicle after taking the keys from inside the home.
On Monday, a 41-year-old man who was arrested last week for breaking into a concession stand at Hastings Stadium, was arrested again and charged with break and enter and trespass by night for a September 16 break in at a garage and shed on Northumberland Street.

Impaired Driving
A 36-year-old Kitchener man was charged with impaired driving, stunt driving and speeding plus his licence was suspended for 90 days, after the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling 88 kilometres per hour in a 40 zone in the area of Gordon Street and Lowes. Testing confirmed he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 40-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving on Sunday after police received several 9-1-1 calls about a vehicle being driven erratically on Woodlawn West. Some callers estimating the vehicle’s speed at 130 kilometres per hour, and one reported the vehicle’s tires left the ground as it sped over railway tracks. After that, the driver lost control as he attempted to turn onto Nicklin Road, leaving the road and colliding with a pole.
A 59-year-old Brampton man was charged with impaired driving on Sunday night after police received reports of a vehicle being driven erratically on Gordon Street near Lowes Road
Theft
A distinctive Harley Davidson motorcycle was stolen from a residence near Dublin and Cork sometime Wednesday, a man came home from work to find his bike missing from the driveway. It is described as a black 2007 Harley Electra Glide with a pink gas tank and silver pinstripes. Also stolen was a metallic red helmet. Just before 3 am on Monday, a resident near Starwood and Summit Ridge heard a car alarm and looked outside to see his dark blue 2023 Tundra driving away, followed by a silver sedan. The victim reported there were approximately $10,000 worth of tools used for his business in the bed of the truck. Although the vehicle had a tracked, it was removed, discarded and found a short distance away from the scene. Traffic
A 72-year-old Guelph woman sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot outside a store on Earmosa near Stevenson. Two pedestrians were walking across the parking lot to enter the store at around 3:30 pm on Thursday when they were struck by a Chevrolet sedan. A 74-year-old Guelph male sustained minor injuries and was transported to Guelph General Hospital. The driver of the sedan, a 94-year-old male from Guelph-Eramosa Township, remained at the scene and was co-operative. A 35-year-old Guelph man was charged with dangerous driving on Thursday afternoon after emergency services were called to the area of Arrow Road and Fair Road for a report of an injured male. A cyclist was run off the road by someone he had gotten into an argument with at a business in the area. A 64-year-old Guelph man was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A Guelph woman sustained serious injuries in a collision Monday morning in the area of Paisley and the Hanlon. Investigation revealed a driver had lost control of her SUV, left the road and struck a cement post. The driver was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
A 22-year-old Erin man is charged with flight from police, disobeying a sign, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and using an unauthorized licence plate after police spotted a man riding a Ducati motorcycle around a “Road Closed” sign near Macdonell and Wyndham. He attempted to flee the scene, but officers on foot were able to catch and detain him. Investigation revealed the bike is not insured and had a fake licence plate attached.
Other Notes
A 32-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose on Sunday evening after police were called to a restaurant near Woodlawn and Edinburgh. Staff reported a man loitering near the entrance and confronting customers while holding a closed folding knife in his hand. Staff convinced the man to leave, but he went to the parking lot of an adjacent business and continued confronting people there. A folding knife with an 18-centimetre blade was located in his waistband.
