There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 34-year-old Guelph man was charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, possessing a firearm while prohibited, uttering threats and several counts of breaching court orders Wednesday afternoon. A man and woman got into a physical confrontation during which the man pointed a BB gun at the woman’s face and chest while uttering death threats.
A 20-year-old Guelph woman was charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault after another woman was attacked Monday afternoon following a verbal altercation.
Break-Ins
A 30-year-old Hamilton man and 33-year-old Hamilton woman face a long list of charges for a Guelph crime spree including four break-ins at homes in the south end and the theft of a black Audi SUV back in March.
Drugs
A 46-year-old Guelph man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possessing a controlled substance and failing to comply with a release order. Earlier this month, the Drug Enforcement Unit received information about a man trafficking controlled substances from an apartment unit in the downtown core. A search warrant resulted in the seizure of $2,000 in drugs including suspected cocaine, crystal meth, psilocybin, cannabis and Hydromorphone, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A 40-year-old Guelph man and 54-year-old Guelph woman were each charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking after they were arrested as they arrived at his east-end residence Friday afternoon. During searches of the residence and the man’s vehicle officers recovered nearly half a kilogram of cocaine divided into smaller packages, contaminated drug packaging, a crossbow, a machete-style bladed weapon and $1,235 cash. The cocaine has an estimated value of $12,500. (See photo above.)

Impaired Driving
A 68-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at a collision. plus his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was seized for seven day after a Transit bus was rear ended near Gordon and Edinburgh Thursday night.
A 38-year-old Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving after he was stopped at a RIDE spot check just before 1 am last Saturday. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
A 27-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without consent and driving without a licence after police responded to reports of a car driving erratically in the area around an Emma Street apartment building. Tests confirmed that the driver had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
Theft
More than $3,300 in fragrances and skin care products were stolen from a business near Clair and Gordon at around 9 pm on Tuesday, 10 bottles of Chanel perfume, and eight Lancome skincare products with a total value of $3,348 were taken. The first suspect was described as male, 20-30, six feet, medium build, short black hair and wearing a black shirt, blue shorts and black sneakers. The second was a female, 50-60, 5’6” with a medium build and brown and blonde hair. She was wearing a white shirt, blue shawl and long plaid skirt. They were seen getting into a blue Volkswagen SUV driven by a third person and leaving the area. A grey 2022 Legend Cyclone 16-foot enclosed trailer with a tandem axle, black spoke rims, chrome checker plate on the front and dents on both sides was stolen from a business at Massey an Michener sometime between July 5 and this past Monday. Airbags were stolen from at least 10 Honda Civics last weekend in the area around Edinburgh between Willow and Speedvale. All of the vehicles involved were 2016 to 2021 Civics and the damage done is estimated at approximately $6,000. Two Markham men, aged 42 and 36, were charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000, using a forged document and mischief under $5,000 after removing a number of Apple gift cards from a display. They were found to be in possession of 43 gift cards and another 1,468 gift cards were found in their vehicle.
Traffic
A 50-year-old bus driver was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian after emergency services were called to the intersection of Wyndham and Carden Tuesday morning. The investigation revealed a male in his 40s was crossing the street when he was struck by a bus which was turning left. The male sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.
A 61-year-old Guelph man was transported to hospital for broken ribs after getting hit by a car Monday afternoon at Arkell and Victoria. The driver of the car was charged with making an unsafe turn.
A 17-year-old Scarborough woman was charged with obstruct police, two counts of driving while suspended and using unauthorized licence plates after a vehicle with two different license plates was stopped leaving a Silvercreek Parkway South business.
Other Notes
Emergency services were called to Silvercreek near Greengate Road just after midnight Thursday after a passerby observed a shopping cart full of items on fire. Officers used a piece of wood to push the shopping cart away from some trees which are close to the commercial building. Fire officials noted they had attended the area for similar calls four times in the previous month. A 46-year-old Cambridge man turned himself in to police and was charged with distributing intimate images without consent and mischief to data after a Guelph woman reported that someone took her phone while she stayed at a friends’ house. Several intimate images of herself had been selected from her photos and an unsuccessful attempt had been made to send them to the friend’s number.
A 23-year-old Guelph woman is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking after showing up outside a downtown church she was barred from after pulling the fire alarm during a service earlier this month.
A 29-year-old Guelph man was located downtown Friday morning and arrested for mischief over $5,00 for a May incident where some drew on the limestone façade of a Wyndham Street North building with a magic maker, which required that a large piece of limestone be found to replace it.
