There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 30-year-old Fergus woman was charged with two counts of assault and uttering a death threat after repeatedly attacking a nurse at a Guelph healthcare facility over the course of a month. The suspect was discharged from the facility Wednesday and was then arrested.
A 37-year-old Guelph man turned himself in to police on Friday and was charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breaching a probation order. An adult male said he was smoking outside when he was confronted by his roommate about smoke coming through the window. The victim was struck in the head and face with a metal prybar, causing a laceration which required stitches. He also lost two teeth when he bit the roommate’s arm to avoid being choked.
Break-Ins
On Wednesday morning, staff at a business on Woolwich and Baker reported that an exterior window had been smashed and that somebody had entered the building though nothing was taken. Another nearby business had reported that damage had been caused to a door in an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry that same night, though it’s not known if the two incidents are related. A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with six counts of break and enter, theft under $5,000, 11 counts related to possessing stolen property and several counts of breaching court orders in connection to six break-ins at west end business between September 19 and November 9. The Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) Unit served a search warrant at a residence near Applewood and Willow tools, during which clothing and a large number of identity documents in various names were recovered, as well as a black BB gun were all recovered.
Drugs

Impaired Driving
A 41-year-old Guelph woman was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop at a collision, driving while suspended and driving without insurance, plus her driver’s licence was further suspended for 90 day after a single-vehicle collision in a parking lot near Gordon and Wellington on Tuesday evening. Officers found an open bottle of vodka inside the car and observed signs of impairment, and she also faces outstanding impaired driving charges from earlier this year.
A 48-year-old Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving on Friday morning after police received a call about a man drinking a vehicle outside an LCBO store on Scottsdale.
A 28-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving after being found last Saturday morning passed out in a vehicle downtown and observed vomiting inside and outside the vehicle.
A 35-year-old Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving last Saturday evening after being stopped for speeding on Woodlawn Road near Inverness Drive.
A 24-year-old Waterloo man was arrested for impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop on Clairfields Drive West.
A 34-year-old Cambridge man was arrested for impaired operation on Monday afternoon after officers were called to a workplace on Elmira Road South where they found a man passed out in a vehicle and observed an open bottle of vodka on the passenger seat.
Theft
A black pick-up truck with a trailer was seen speeding out of a construction area near Hanlon Creek Boulevard and Downey Road at 2 am on Thursday. The vehicle was used to drive through the gates and several buildings on site appeared to have been entered, though it is not known at this time what was stolen. A licence plate was recovered from the scene which had been reported stolen from Barrie. On Thursday morning a resident near Hadati and Mountford reported her white Cadillac Escalade was stolen from the driveway sometime overnight. The SUV has the centre caps missing from its wheels and a large scratch on the right front fender. A 36-year-old Guelph man is charged with theft under $5,000 after stealing a $400 TV from his workplace, a business on Silvercreek Parkway North.
Traffic
A 17-year-old Mississauga male was charged with speeding and stunt driving, plus his licence was suspended for 30 days after a police patrol caught him doing 104 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone on Speedvale near Woolwich. His mom’s car was also impounded.
Other Notes
A 31-year-old Guelph woman was arrested for failing to attend court and resisting arrest after police spotted her while on patrol downtown. She was wanted for missing court in early 2022, and the woman told police that she would not be arrested and tried to walk away. Police attempted to take control of her but she began screaming and pushing officers away.
A 40-year-old Guelph man was arrested by another police service on the outstanding warrant for a September 3 incident where five people attended an apartment on Waterloo near Woodycrest looking for a male believed to be hiding in the building. The group then forced their way into one of the units.
A Guelph man is in custody after missing a court date on 42 outstanding charges including property offences, assault and breaching court orders.
A 22-year-old Puslinch man and his 51-year-old mother are charged with obstructing justice after the man’s girlfriend lied about his involvement with a serious collision in May 2021. Two vehicles were racing on Woolwich when one of them was involved in a five-vehicle collision that seriously injured a 14-year-old girl. The other vehicle fled the scene without stopping. The girlfriend recanted her first statement last week, telling police that she was asked by her boyfriend and his mother to lie about his involvement.
