There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
A 29-year-old Guelph man was charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon and uttering threats after a two-hour negotiation on Friday morning with a man who had barricaded himself in a bedroom. A verbal argument escalated until one man threw a chair at the other and then brandished a kitchen knife. The victim sustained a minor injury and was able to leave the residence and call for help.
A 17-year-old Guelph woman was charged with failing to attend court, failing to comply with a disposition and unauthorized possession of a weapon after police were called about a suspicious person near Woolwich and Speedvale.
A 54-year-old Guelph woman was charged with criminal harassment, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting police after they were called to a neighbour dispute on Watson Road North. When the woman was taken into custody, she would not comply and actively resisted, scratching both officers’ wrists.
A 46-year-old Guelph man was charged with break and enter, assault, uttering threats and mischief under $5,000 after he showed up at a Waterloo Avenue apartment on Wednesday night angry about a supposed injury to his dog caused by the woman’s dog. He pushed his way into the apartment and grabbed the woman by the face, he also allegedly poured oil on the floor and said that he hoped the woman’s dog would consume it.
Break-Ins
A 22-year-old Guelph man faces 20 charges including break and enter, attempt break and enter and multiple counts of possessing stolen property, using a stolen credit card and breaching court orders for breaking into a Norfolk Street business last week. He was already on bail for charges related to nine break and enters.
Drugs
A 29-year-old Guelph man and 31-year-old Guelph woman were jointly charged with three counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, and the man was also charged with two counts of breaching a release order. The Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) Unit was watching a man whose release order included conditions to remain in his residence 24 hours a day and not operate a motor vehicle. When he left home and drove around town with the woman, police stopped him and the woman he was driving with when it was safe to do so after several stops and they found nearly $30,000 in illicit substances including large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine and MDMA.

Impaired Driving
A 73-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after he drove into a parking lot on Woodlawn West and collided with a piece of equipment.
A 41-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving and failing to stop at an accident after a vehicle parked on the street had been struck and the vehicle had left the scene before returned a short time later.
A 45-year-old Guelph woman was charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample after a single-vehicle collision at Victoria and Eastview at 3 am Sunday morning. The driver attempted to turn onto Eastview when she lost control and struck a light post, causing extensive damage.
Theft

Traffic
Police are looking for a small dark-coloured car with front-end damage after an incident on Tuesday morning where a motorist slowed to enter a parking lot on Woodlawn near Woolwich when he was struck from behind. The responsible vehicle continued eastbound on Woodlawn Road without stopping.
A 22-year-old Guelph man is charged with speeding and stunt driving, and his driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days after he was clocked doing nearly twice the speed limit near Wellington and Imperial.
A 39-year-old Guelph man was charged with careless driving and failing to remain at a collision. On Monday morning, a woman was was struck while an SUV was making a U-turn on Victoria near Hadati.
Other Notes
A 28-year-old Guelph man was charged with committing an indecent act and theft under $5,000 after he entered a Stone Road business and masturbated while watching the all-female staff. He then stole a small amount of cash from a tip jar and left the business.
A 32-year-old Guelph man was charged with committing an indecent act, criminal harassment and breaching probation, and the investigation revealed he is on bail for outstanding matters including three counts of committing an indecent act. He was following a woman in her 50s while she was walking her dog near Woolwich and Marilyn on Sunday morning while committing a lewd act.
A 39-year-old Guelph woman is charged with five counts of breaching a conditional sentence order after police witnessed her leaving her residence four times in the last week, and violating an 18-month sentence of house arrest.
A 39-year-old woman was charged with mischief endangering life for allegedly striking the gas meter with golf clubs, causing several dents and a three-centimetre puncture. The home in the area of Burns and Nicklin had to be evacuated for safety, but the suspect was known to the homeowners.
A 42-year-old Kitchener woman was arrested in another jurisdiction on Wednesday for failing to appear in court on impaired driving charges from April 2021.
A 42-year-old Guelph woman was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with two counts of failing to appear in court on a variety of charges including assault with a weapon and several property offences.
Police located William, a 74-year-old man with Alzheimer’s who went missing from his Guelph home on Wednesday night. On Thursday he was returned to his home after approaching a stranger in the Mount Forest area and asking for help.
